The driver's championship is a bit of a joke in F1 as it depends so hugely on the car.

During his "reign", Schumacher had by far the best car (most of the time), but at least he was indisputably the best driver out there.

I think most people now recognise that, good as Alonso is, Raikkonen is better. We will shortly have the situation where the world champion is not the best driver, just as we did with Jaques Villeneuve & Damon Hill.
