Hi guys,
got the above monitor today from OCUK (fine delivery again).
Just set it up upstairs and there isn't a power cable in the box!!! do they expect everyone to have a kettle lead hanging around? or is there supposed to be one in the box?? gutted! thank god for my laptop!
anyone know if there is supposed to be one?!
cheers

just googled and it looks as if there isn't one supplied... which is absolutely dire...
OCUK should mention it on there site as I have spent £340 on a monitor that I can't use until I get a cable now...
not very happy

The power cable should come in a separate package. I presume this makes it easier for DELL to distribute stock without having boxes of monitors which can only be sold in certain countries.

If it doesn't show up within a few days (the weekend is approaching, might want to wait until Monday), I'd contact OcUK :)

they come in seperate boxes. Dell ship the monitors out from their warehouse and because they are getting shipped worldwide. they dont package it with a power lead. If o contact OcUK they will send you a lead since it s supposed to come with one. you're not the first person to have this issue :)

hi guys, cheers for the replies... didn't get a seperate box. But I managed to track a power cable down.. got one with my 580w Tagan PSU which I never used.... managed to find it in the bottom of a box in the loft... so all is well :D

monitor is incredible by the way!!

How much backlight bleed in the corners mate?

erm... none that I can see....
do you mean a white glow? got that on mine at work, but not this one..... is it something that happens over time?

I never got my power cable when I bought it from OCUK, always meant to mention it, but completely forgot - just fortunate I had a few spare i guess lol

just tried the black screen thingy and noticed that the bottom left seems ever so slightly lighter than the rest... only that corner though... it a bad thing? is it likely to get worse?

No, shouldnt get worse but is an unfortunate "feature" of the Dell and most widescreen 20" monitors at the moment.

plop :(

ah well... only spotted it on the loading screen for Far Cry...
I know that if I send it back I am likely to get one back with no bleeding but with a dead pixel.... of which I have none at the moment...
will have to live with it I think..

It's not that likely actually; you're more likely to get a replacement with the same, if not worse backlight bleeding. Unfortunately it's a problem which has plagued the 2005FPW, and you may go through a number of replacements before you get one which is near enough perfect.

If it's not that noticable, just cut your losses and enjoy your new monitor :)

hmmm it seems the longer the monitor is on for the worse it becomes.. its actually spreading from the bottom left toward the middle now, and bearing in mind I do a lot of photoshop and graphic work with my PC its seriously going to affect my perception of colours..
If I send this back is there any way I can just get my cash back? didn't realise the monitor was so susceptible to faults... !

I think it is fair to say that buying a 20" WS monitor without fault is like searching for the Holy Grail at the moment.
