It feels strange stopping the timing at the point that the flag falls, instead of letting the laps that are currently being run complete.

In the old format of the 12 lap, 1 hour session that is what used to happen. Runners on flying laps were able to complete the lap if the session hadn't stopped by the time the lap was started.

Only leaves Massa and Heidfeld.

So for all Max going on about fuel economy in the future, we now have cars going around for 16 odd laps just to burn fuel - great.

Pretty much.

It's a great idea - like the change to V8's to save money - total cost of development of the new V8's - about 1.5 billion apparently..

Oh..and the tyre suppliers now having to carry more typres around the world - that'll cut costs.

Michelin are apparently carrying 35% more tyres this year as opposed to last year - they've got less teams this year as well.
