hey all ive got the A04 revision of that monitor and im wondering is anyone else using it for thier ps3 to watch blu-ray and game how is the quality does it do 1:1 mapping @ 720p ok and is the picture stunning?

i cant decide between a ps3 or a internal blu-ray player.

1680x1050 is the native res(and supports 1:1 mapping) its not that far off 1080p what would happen if u ran the ps3 @1080p is it a better quality picture or do it get some weird downscaling thats worse than 720p?

and if possible is the 720p 1:1 a little small on the screen with all the proper borders? also if someone could demonstrate what should a proper 720p 1:1 picture looks like on this 16:10 display as im not sure should there be big borders on all four sides? or just borders on the top and bottom?

im also confused as to how an internal blu-ray drive using powerdvd latest would work with scaling. i never see a 1:1 option when using my native res 1680x1050 and only get black bars at the bottom and top. so does playing it on the pc stretch the image and if so would using the ps3 actually give better quality picture than an internal drive?

as u can see im utterly confused on the borders and scaling so be nice and help a guy out :P

what TV and hifi did a test of blu ray players, and the PS3 was right up there

the difference only became apparent when using very expensive sets. So for use on what is essentially a boggo computer monitor, the PS3 would be ideal as a bluray player

that also happens to play games ... :D

jesus a reply :P

actually ordered one last night got posted this morning £299 + 2 blu-ray's spiderman 3 and casino royale gonna link it up to Z-5500 over optical and hopefully enjoy 1.5mbs dts :P

but yep after reading it seems good (as long as blu-ray wins) go blu-ray!

loseless audio
upscaling
1080p/24

not bad for 299 i think + plays games although compared to the pc it kinda sucks maybe GTA resident evil 5 and MGS:4

the PS3 does have its place

not just with exclusives either

i find sitting in the living room playing Call of Duty 3 just as enjoyable as the other call of duty games were on the PC.

only problem with the £300 model (40G right?) it wont play PS1 or PS2 games :( but if its just Blue ray u want go for it :p
