2008 Japanese GP - Race 16/18

Now Mark Webber wades in... he has leaked that the stewards questioned him about Massa's dodgy pass on him and that they were trying to find a way to punish him.

so no one is allowed to defend a position against a red car for fear of punishment now.

there was mention of a 10 place punishement for hamilton for his 1st corner incident in that too. wouldn't suprise me if he gets pole on sat(or even just ahead of massa) and they pop up and slap him with it.

also , weres the china thread?

Yeah the 10 place stuff is worrying. Just shows you that the stewards were practically foaming at the mouth and tripping over themselves to issue Hamilton with a penalty.

Ridiculous. I support Nick Heidfeld's comments that there should be permanent stewards.

Has there been no mention of sebastian anywhere? I would have thought that would be appealed :/ or maybe it has and I missed it.
I think most of the penalties were fair, it was just unlucky that hamilton had to wait for every car to go by.

Massa's move might have been legal on webber but it looked damn dangerous.

Just dug up this little chessnut:

Isn't it amazing the parallels that exist between then and now? :D

Love this bit:

He also said it was wrong for the FIA to tell the drivers on the eve of the Japanese race that they faced bans if they blocked the title contenders.

Kind of puts in perspective the FIA's steward decisions at Fuji last weekend :p Particularly the one involving Bourdais.

What Bourdais did (if he did anything) can hardly be called blocking, besides it was for position, he was not a backmarker that was about to be lapped.

Can't appeal against a drive through penalty given after the race. That was the outcome of the attempted appeal that Hamilton made after Spa.
