To be honest, recessions don't hit top end luxury housing that hard, the rich don't really get that phased by a recession. Much like the corporate airline industry (biz jets etc) isn't taking any significant down turn, it only really affects the working class heavily and even then, this recent recession has been caused more by media sensationalism than anything else.

Your right when you say it's the working man who is generally affected the most in a recession, but it also depends on the type of recession an the sectors it encompasses, and how you define rich, someone with 20+ million is unlikely to be hugely affected by a recession unless there money is 100% tied up in a single area or entity that ends up getting hit hard, someone with 2 or 3 million on the other hand could be if that recession hits there area of business

At the moment the recession is in the banking sector not the wider econeomy although the housing market has now been hit, but thats more down to banks not wanting to lend people money rather than people not wanting houses.
Anyone with substancial investments in the money markets or banks is feeling the pinch, as are people who earn a lot of money out of banking, most of it through bonus and other performance related perks and these figures massively dwarf there salaries when things are going well.

I suppose it really depends on the level of "rich" were talking about, once you amass a certain amount of cash i guess you are in effect recession proof

You're in the motors forum with a load of petrol heads who obviously love cars....and Iceman owns some of the best cars money can buy...

Most people who have grown up with money are annoying, snobby, in your face morons.

Iceman is a refreshing change. He's down to earth, has great cars, and was a great chap when he popped along to an RR day once.

Thats why people like him and the thread isn't full of jealous morons and people calling BS.

Aww thank you guys ;) I do miss the UK sometimes, wish I could attend another of the RR's sometime.

I know it's been a while since I posted here. When I go back to the UK for a few weeks I'll get some shots of the bike collection too, there's a couple of very nice MV Agusta 1078's there (F4 and Brutale) and hopefully by the time I go back, the new 2009 Vmax.

/Waves....Hi there iceman, nice collection of cars there!

He's been around since the begining of time and at one point was an OcUK employee of all things! Remember kids, good things come to those who work hard!

I cant stand a show off! You sir have every right to be showing off though! A stunning motor collection! Some of my favourite cars in the world in your ownership!

i agree, but wouldnt put berkley homes in the top end luxury housing group!

also agree that this situation has been worsened by the hype. but problem is that 95-99% of people dont really understand the economics behind the problem and will take the media reports at face value. i.e. we are all doomed!:)
