2009 Ashes Series - England vs. Australia **Spoilers**

As for Freddie lifting the team- yes, I suppose it's not ideal to have to have him in order to perform, but as it seems to work, who cares- it's his final test, get him in there! We can deal with the psyche later :)

Since it's his last test, I reckon Strauss should use him as an expendable asset! I think he might just do a Blues-Brothers and explode at the very end of the test in a big cloud of cartilage and tendons....

Trescothick another player that could come back for the final test...

Interesting point that. He's not ruled himself out, although it seems Geoff Miller is reluctant to call. Having said that, when we're talking about mental frailty, is it really a good idea to call up a player who suffers from a mental illness?

Well Bopara and Cook have shown consistency today against Middlesex in division 2 of the county championship.

Bopara out for 1, Cook out for 4. Middlesex are second from bottom in the county championship.

Working from home today and my tickets for day four of the fifth test have just dropped though my letter box.

I probably should have gone for day three....

You'll get a full day's play, I have faith :p

Ramprakash ready for Test call-up

Veteran Mark Ramprakash has told BBC Sport he would be "thrilled" to make a Test comeback for the Ashes decider.

The outstanding batsman on the county circuit for the past decade, the right-hander, who turns 40 in September, last played Test cricket in 2002.

He said: "This Test match has been built up into a fantastic showpiece occasion, it's the sort of occasion that you cherish and savour."

The Surrey pro said he had had "no contact at all" with the selectors.

PMSL:D:D

At this rate they might as well bring back Nasser and Atherton as well:p

I hope Bell still gets dropped even if he has done ok today. He has done nothing since his recall. Maybe is a technically good player but not fit for playing at the top level.

What do you mean hes done nothing, he scored a 50 in his first innings !! Admittedly he hasnt scored very many after that but then Bopara hasnt done anything at all, all series.

Then you look at the team and see Swann is averaging more than either Collingwood and Cook during this series !! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/averages/default.stm

Well i'd like to think getting 50 is no outstanding achievement for a number 3 - thats what they are meant to do. It was another of those innings where he wasn't under as much pressure. Any big occasion where the going is real tough then he is rubbish. Really think Key and Ramps should come in for him and Ravi. I think if either of them are in the team then the selectors are more or less throwing away any chances of a win.
