200MPH Radio Controlled Jet

Wing is from EdgeRC in the USA, called the Devestator

2 metal geared Mini servo's from GWS, imported from the USA again, incredibly strong and powerfull servo's. Need some strong when wanting to turn at high speed.

Castle Creations Phoenix 60 ESC

1 x 2100Mah 3 cell Li-Po pack at 20C constant and 30C bursts (will add another one in paralell soon to enable me to remove some of the lead i am using for balance in the nose and give a bit longer flight times. Trouble is those battery packs are £50 a time.

Brushless Motor---well did start with a Mega Motor 16/15/4
but now trying a HET 4W, incredibly powerfull and a touch cheaper than the Mega Motors.

Small Futaba receiver.

At present 5 x 5 prop APC, but going to play around with AMP meter and other props and see if anything can give me better speed.

EdgeRC wings are brill. :D I want one of the small ones from them, they seem crazy and would be good whilst I'm at uni. You using thunderpower packs?

I also find the GWS servos really good value for money, perfect for all sorts.

Do you use www.aircraft-world.com and www.allerc.com ?

Yes concorde rules:

That large model, is owned by Ali Mashinchy seen it fly a few times. very nice, also seen it have a flame out but Ali managed to get it down in one piece, (This is Ali from Als hobbies www)

He is a very good pilot, loads of models. But then he does own 3 - 4 model shops and his brother i believe owns hobby stores here in the uk as well. I also think his father may have had something to do with Ripmax.

This is what the concorde looked like about 7.30 am last saturday at the LMA show at cosford (Large Model association) Great show on sat and sun. Huge models, actually makes the concorde look small.

Saitrix: I was there when it crashed (well I was there when the 1st of that model crashed, graham then built another and that also crashed) Apparently he lost orientation of it. I was only 100 ft away when it went it. It was huge, but too heavy, thats why he built a 2nd and also crashed that. When you get to this size of model, you have to have FAA approval before it can fly.

As it gets picked up on radar at ATC, and also could you imagine what something like that would do if it hit a full size. The size of these things are amazing you have to also buy a damn trailor or van to put them in.

I prefer them somewhat a little smaller

That's seriously cool

Anyone who wants to do it a bit cheaper build a pulsejet. You can make one for next to nothing and they've been flying at 250mph+ for years. That's why they were banned :D

they were banned????, I believe you can still get them. Just noise is now a issue at most flying sites thats one of the reasons you dont see a great deal of them. But sure, they were and still are very fast. ( they may have been banned, i didnt know that though)

Saitrex: not used aircraft world but shall have a look, there are so many rc on line shops i use, for different bits here and there. Thanks for that link though.

Not like that. The completely composite ones without any form of power. The 3m wingspan dynamic soarer lads. I think the record is still 301mph though knowing those lot it could be higher now. Yes that is using the pure energy of the wind. Onle problem now is geting radar guns that measure high enough.

christ 300 mph, 200 is fast on a model, by the time it's passed you it needs turning. But your right, the power and agility some of these slope models can achieve are incredible. Plus they have to be so stronge to cope with those speeds.

but im more into my dirty noisy engines anyhow for the time being :)

It's only flying pulsejets that got banned due to the fact that it's a deafening red hot steel tube flying at 250mph. Danger factor is quite high with them :D

I've never had any trouble running mine except people coming from a surprisingly long way away to find out what's making the noise!

No I'm not in the BMFA, just a pulsejet enthusiast. I've made a couple ranging from small to fairly big.

Ironically with today's RC technology they are probably perfectly safe to fly, but I tend to go for land based vehicles for mine, then I don't have to worry about weight too much. Here's my scooter:

I'm not prepared to find out. It's got one throttle setting, full, and no brakes :D
