201-2006 - Project log, CM case mod comp 2006

Fan holes are marked and drilled, The cutting commences, followed by a clean up of the edges

The finished back plate before it’s last coat of colour and lacquer. Painted and lacquered and riveted back onto the motherboard tray

Time to assemble – on getting ready to assemble the case I realised that due to turning it upside down I would need to make some adjustments to the drive bay mounting points in order for the drives to sit correctly.

Build me up!

The fans are installed. The front mesh filter and USB are installed

The front panel and drive bays are installed

The PSU is installed

The motherboard tray is installed with PCI slots and thumbscrews in place.

The optical drive bezel is fixed to the drive and the drive is installed

Time to add the cold cathode lighting to the side panel so that it shines through the acrylic logo

Side and top panels on, thumbscrews in place

As the competition is for “case modding” I will not go into detail about the components (mainly because they are low end!)

Time to power on!

Couldn't have put it better myself - Nice work Harib0

Also love that fact you but your painting nightmare in the offical log, when many wouldn't. Your an insparation :)

Well were not perfect so you know way not stick it in lol

Thanks for all the comments

The fan grill on the front does actually look a lot better in person as i have sprayed it with chrome paint - though i may well go that little bit further and get it properly chromed.

I now have some white LED fans as well so when i get a chance i'll replace the fans.

And i'll try to get some decent pictures too in natural light - but it's been dull and raining for so long now!

just looked at the compertition - know what you man about not comming last  :D

and your entry is one of maybe three that have been setout well, viewing some of thoses was really hard work :(

Some entries seem to have broken the rules, which i'm finding it hard to stay calm about.

The original requirement was to embed links to images in the log - some guys have embedded the pictures and others embedded thuimbnails, so when the log initially went up on the site, some you could see right away but those who followed the rules (me) only had a list of links, making it really hard to get into the log, luckily we were able to resubmit with thumnails only - yet there are still some who have big pictures in there logs.

Also there are a few who don't have a full log of what they have done, or are missing out important bits - I'd really like to know how the front panel on the CMC/S3 mod was done, but i've looked but can only see reference written but no pictures - maybe it was late, but i also went to the extrnal site for the log.

Thats another thing, some have not submitted a log but have just linked to an external log.

I have no idea how the voting is going to work as you have to vote your top 5, now if they see who gets the most votes as number one and make them the winner the most votes at number 2 get second prize etc.. then i think there may the posibility that some one who doesn;t get many overall votes could win a prize above some one who get lots of votes spread across 1-5 ..... are you keeping up?

Say for example 4 people vote for me at position 4, but i don't get any other votes, i could win possition 4 with just 4 votes - even though another modder could have 2 votes in 1-5 so 10 votes in total  I know what i mean!

Edit and of course i vote for myself at number 1 :D

Well nothing has been comfirmed yet by CM as to how the voting works, i've held off voting until i'm sure of how it's goign to be worked out! Hopefully they will clarify it tomorrow

Well the voting has now closed, and i'm very excited as i have received a PM over on the CM forums from a certain person saying they have voted for me and with an offer to join a modding team where i will be required to build at least 3 mods in 2007. Only just read the PM so will have to think on it over the weekend.

Hopefuly the results will be released tonight or tomorrow.
