2011 Ford Mustang

Pwoar, apparently the new 5 litre engine is quite something. At the RR meet on Saturday I was talking to Andy G, the former owner of the Saleen 'stang pictured in this thread about the new Mustang, he said there were rumours that they may actually do one with fully independent rear suspension at some point, on the new platform. Interesting stuff.

Question is though does it need independent rear suspension? From watching that youtube video it clearly handles better thant he Chevy SS which has IRS suspension.

Well the general consensus is no, but if you are pushing on, on some of our roads ...it could keep it much more settled I imagine.

As Andy has stated before though, a well set up live rear axle is very good. After he had work done on it, it handled better than some Jap toys that are meant to handle brilliantly...and that was coming from the owner of a tuning/geometry garage.

Yeah, I didn't mean that as an 'omg they shouldn't allow it'. Just that despite what many say, the live rear is damn good. I've been out in it a few times, first time it was good, final time (~6months before he sold it, after he'd had everything sorted) it was brilliant. Absolutely gripped the road and appeared (obviously being a passenger can't get full feel for it) to handle so much better than other cars I've been in.

I'm jealous, I want one.
Could wait till a few years and buy a second hand one and trade in my 05, but then I'll want a 2015 or something:(

You're right, I'd have to sort all the handling out again on a new model(and make it look the way I like), or keep the one I have which has a decent set up for track use and slap on a S/C!
I'm a bit £-less atm, Probably a few years for that too!

You know the deal though, other-mustang-itus.
