Well, I've had a few events happening in my life that have made me reconsider my unhealthy and very inactive lifestyle.

A couple of my family members have recently died of cancer, and obesity accounts for 30 - 35% of cancer cases, not a risk factor I'd like to take. Given the fact my family also has heart problems brought on by obesity, it's something I need to change, and change quick. I'm 21 so the damage could already have been done.

I thought I'd make a thread to try and support whoever else is doing this - a few small changes can make a huge difference to your overall health and fitness level. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the UK, and a major factor is obesity.

My changes:
- Walk to work and back, regardless of weather (about 10 mins each way)
- Go for walks in the countryside (yesterday I climbed some of High Street in the Lake District)
- Make healthier meals, and cook them from scratch
- Vastly cut alcohol consumption

I have no shame, so here goes... I'm currently weighing around 19 - 19.5 stone, and I am 6"4 tall. Anyone will tell you that's well over what is considered healthy.

So come on, who else is making the change?

Good luck mate, the first step it always the hardest although keeping it going can also be a struggle.
I started at 234lbs at 5'7 around the 7th jan down to around 216 at the moment.

Very good, got any tips? :p

Here's me as of a few weeks ago, I'm on the left:

I'm not the muscly type, I'd like a bit from jogging / mountain climbing but nothing mad.

When I cut out the rubbish last time and followed a food plan, I dropped down to about 14 stone and look so much healthier. I'd like to sit between 14 and 15 stone I think. :)

I have a free gym at work, and will probably join a 'proper' one with pool facilities etc when money is a little easier. I have another one of those Rovers we nearly hit a sheep in, on the Yorkshire Dales meet so all my money seems to go on fuel. :p
