Pre-seasons already kicked off for a few clubs and we usually have a thread for pre-season chat so here it is.

Liverpool's first game is this Saturday vs Preston - it's on ESPN and LFC TV online.

Pretty impressive performance from Liverpool earlier today vs Preston. Coutinho was as magnificent as ever, Ibe, Sterling and Aspas all impressed too and our general team performance was pretty good also.

Preston would have been better off just going for a run because I can't remember them stringing 2 passes together all game.

Typical pre-season game from us. You could see in their performance that the players have had some hard training sessions and the heat/humidity wasn't helping things either.

Alberto in the first half and both Sterling & Ibe in the 2nd looked good but other than that it seemed a bit of an effort for the rest.

Interesting to see Wisdom getting a run out at CB again today instead of Kelly. With Wisdom likely to be loaned out before the season starts, I guess that rules out any chance of Kelly moving infield to CB.
You do know the history of convicts in Australia don't you? :p

:D

88,000 today in Indonesia too :p
Good goal. Ibe looks damn quick and he doesn't bottle for a living.

I said at the end of last season that he's potentially better than Sterling. Maybe not quite as skillful but looks like he's got more end product.

Coutinho reminds me of Aimar in his prime, there's not enough players who want to take players on anymore, good to see.

Aimar was a little **** - he put in a sneaky stamp on Salif Diao many years ago and I've hated him since.

For those who haven't seen it, here's Coutinho's magical goal:

Coutinho has magical feet but like I said earlier, it's not just what he does but the way he does it. It's too easy for him.

My love of Coutinho is worrying if I'm honest.

Only just got around to watching our game vs Olympiacos from yesterday. I know it's only pre-season but, touch wood, things are looking good for the season ahead. Not only have we won every game without conceding but there's be a lot of positives from players that were either fringe players or players with slight question marks over them.

Lucas looks fitter & stronger than he's done since his knee injury, Allen's playing like the Allen we saw in his first few months rather than last few months, Aspas looks better than the squad player I thought he was being signed as and even Toure's looked pretty decent. Throw in Sterling, who looks revitalised and ready to kick on from last season, and Jordon Ibe who looks like he could make an impact this season and our squad doesn't look too bad.

Another decent really decent performance from us - the only negative was conceding our first goal in pre-season, although with a back 4 of Spearing, Coates, Wisdom & Flanagan and Jones in goal it was inevitable.

Aspas keeps impressing me; it looks like he's going to miss a few chances but he looks really lively and more than a handy player. Coutinho was his usual beautiful self and Alberto looks a very promising understudy to him. And then there's Borini....even you must feel sorry for him Pigeon. He's just not meant to score - he was so unlucky today.

As things stand he's 4th choice. Yes, he's not done enough to justify the £9-10m we spent on him but the lad's not had any luck whatsoever. He started off playing on the right, broke his foot a couple of months into the season and then soon after coming back from that injury he dislocates his shoulder. He could have easily ended up with a hat-trick today but instead 1 shot trickles along the goal-line from a near impossible angle, the keeper makes a great save and he smashes 1 against the bar.

4th choice of our 4 central striking options. I think Aspas is nailed on to play as the central striker if Sturridge isn't fit for Stoke and as you say, Coutinho's a certainty too but I'm not sure where he plays.

If we play with Coutinho off Aspas then I think Borini might play on one of the wings but if we go with a 4-3-3 and Coutinho on the left then I think we have to go with either Sterling or Ibe.
