Hi guys,

This is my 2nd thread (my first was a bit disorganised) so I wanted to create an new one in the hope I could get some advice from you guys with regards to building my 2013 PC.

The idea is that this is a "Work in Progress" throughout the year, adding to it over the coming months.

So, I already have a GTX 670 FTW to put in it, and plan on getting on for SLI. I also have various HDD's and SSD's for it as well. The real issue I'm having at the moment is choosing the right motherboard. I intend on overclocking the processor to 4.5GHz, The GPU's and maybe a little on the memory.

I've dabbled with Water cooling in the past, but this builld is primarily going to be on Air, although I won't rule out Water cooling in the future.

So, Ultimately, This is what I see the system having.

Triple SLI GTX670's
A Revo Card
Overclocks
Air cooled, with low temps.

So, here is what I have chosen so far.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x NZXT Phantom Enthusiast USB3.0 Full Tower Case - Orange/Black £96.38
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV316G213C1K) £89.99
1 x Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Orange (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £69.98
Total : £771.34 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Will I fit the Triple SLI into this NZXT case? I love the design of the NZXT cases, so ultimately I want to go with that if possible.

Also - which PSU do you recommend? It seems a lot of the big W ones are now out of stock which is a right pain in the ass.

Can you help me pick the right Mobo, Case and PSU for this build?

Budget is £1400.

Thanks

A triple card solution will fit in the full NZXT phantom case :) speaking from experience. Not overally sure which is the right motherboard to spec though :)
Also you will get that to 4.8ghz no problem with a decent cooler! I personally use the corsair h100 which can be had quite cheap now

the names are a bit different to what I've seen elsewhere - is the 3.0 enthusiasts one full size? I know the 820 is, but not sure if the one I have chosen is?

Also - will the Phantek cooler fit? My issue is, I want a decent mobo, that doesn't block the PCI-e slot with the cooler fitted. That's why i need help with the mobo choice.

Thanks,

Yeah they re released some new models of the phantom range. The one you have selected is the full size model. It's the midi models that are of the smaller size. I'm liking the orange theme :)

In all honesty ive not had much dealings with air coolers like that since my old artic cooler :) but I do know that is quite a large cooler so would be very dubious. I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge on higher end motherboards can help you out :)

Edit** That price is awesome for the NZXT too! Great case for the price. There's only two cases right now I will own and that's the phantom which I own or the cosmos 2 which im apparently not allowed to buy :( *under the thumb I am*

Buy everything at once. No point in waiting.

It's a budget limited Factor.

With all my bills and everything, I only get about £1400 pocket money a month left over.

Basically, I'm buying everything I need to get the system up and running and can add to it over the coming months. Obviously the bits I will get in the future aren't "Needed" for the PC, but will be nice to have!

To me, that makes sense - rather than waiting to build it.

Just need to know about the Mobo before I take the plunge.

Thank you.

I was looking at the UD7 - as it went with my black and Orange theme.

So that will fit with the Phanteks Cooler + 3 x GTX670 in the NZXT case I have chosen? I wasn't sure if I would have the clearence for the Phantek, but I'd really like to use it if possible.

Here's my updated Basket

If that all fits, I guess the last thing would be the PSU. Any recommendations?

Don`t know what else to recommend, as all the decent 1000w Psus are out of stock.
You may have to shop around, if you can`t wait for stock to come in.

Thanks,

I may have the get the PSU from elsewhere I suppose.

I was looking at the Corsair 1050 - should think that will do just fine. I'm just paranoid about the Phanteks fitting in...I wish I could see one to ensure it did.

Looks like i have found one! Cheers for the help guys!

If you can find the dimensions of the cooler I can measure my case. Though I have a Corsair H80 in mine with the Rad where the exhaust should go. Great Case for cooling :)

The cooler will fit(179mm high), the OP is more worried about it covering the Pcie slot.

you get more left over than i get a month, so go for it, 2 months saving for you and you can have the best of everything thats on offer

:rolleyes::p
