2013 - Morba's Cake fed Strongman Log.

Haha, yeah I'm not small lol. I only generally weigh myself when I'm ill, it's nice to see how bad it's affecting me lol.

Bunch of lightweights :P

Need to get swimming again to get some of this fat off around my belly, just need to find the will to get up in the morning and go before work!

Deadlifts:
Week 1 ortmeyer:

4x4 175kg - 70%
2x2 200kg - 80%
8x 175kg - 70%

Feels like I've not deadlifted in ages, add that to recovering from illness and it makes for a hard day.

The 4x4s were hard going. 200kg doubles felt hard
8x175kg was easy and had plenty more in me, go figure.

BB Rows - 110kg 2x5
strict standing circus db press - 38kg 3x10 both arms (was doing this while chatting more to keep some blood pumping around my body than anything else!

Winter training!! How to snap your **** up :D

Can't get out of road in car so was picked up where I could walk to. Unit was freezing and we are out of gas. Bad times.

Warmups: red tiger balm and deep heat. Yep, warm now!

Log to get some blood flowing:
Strict:
70x10
70x10
80x5
90x3
95x3
100x1

2 man axle deadlift off 3" platform. Stupid height to start from and we had done deads less than 48 hours before.
340kgx1
380kgx1
420kgx1
450kgx1
480kgxf - I broke the floor, other person didn't and that's that
Swap with someone else
480xf - both broke the floor but he stopped
Swapped with Olly who is a taller than me but has a better dead than the other 2
480xf - above the knee, he's a hitcher though and once he started the hitch the weight transferred to me and I stopped moving. Close, a bit more fresh and we'd have that. - will post vid when it's uploaded.

From 18" I've no doubt we would pull 600 tbh. Bit more work on timing and technique is all that's needed.

2 man axle clean and press
More for something to do and the long pole was already out
Timing is everything here so a few fails occurred before it went right

170kgx3
170kgx5

Good fun today, a good laugh :)

Monday means overhead - ortmeyer log week 1 again, this time not feeling ill!

I've actually seen sense and will base this on 125, not 130 and hit a pb in week 3 rather than week 2. However, week 1 will remain based on 130 as it should be an easy week to kill even with the additional load.

So plan for tonight:

4x4 70% 90kg
2x2 80% 102.5kg
>8 70% 90kg

After that will see what time I have left and might do some close grip bench or some log incline, or maybe some banded log press.
Oh and some heavier cleans, try and start cleaning 120kg+ regularly so that its not a hardship when it comes to needing to clean it!

Well, a great session, bit different than planned:

Warmups
70kg x 10 strict, fast
70x10 strict, fast
80x5 strict, fast
80x5 push press, fast.

Work sets, 2 others were doing 87.5kg 4x4 so for ease I did the same..

87.5kg 4x4 - push press, fast and easy.
100x2 - easy
100x2 - even easier, err wtf.
Goaded into doing 90% (my current PB)
112.5x2 - umm, easy. Like BOOM 2 reps, done. Awesome!
Running late, so went straight into my >8 reps, should have been 87.5 but 85kg was easier to have loaded.
85x10 stupidly fast, awesome reps. Literally pressed, dropped to chest and exploded up rep after rep.

Went and got my boy from trampolining, got cold, back to gym for some bench.

130kg 5x3.

Done.

460kg 2 man axle deadlift, our first time trying this.

Having someone else moving the bar while pulling it yourself is not the easiest thing in the world lol :D

Ever have one of those nights where you start off thinking "this is gonna be **** tonight"?
Tonight that was me.

The other day we were doing 2 man axle deads and 2 man axle clean and press.
When putting the axle down from the press the thing bounced up and jarred my middle finger, today it hurt while doing deads. I mean really hurt :(

Some axle power cleans to warm up:
40kg x lots
60kg x 5
80 x 3
90 x 1

Deadlifts (keep forgetting its a 22kg bar, ignore the extra 2kg each time Doh!):

110x5
110x5
130x5
150x3
Work sets:
175 4x4 - finger killing me, almost tempted to give up
200x2 - pain :(
225x2 - too a few times to start the pull, each time the tension killed :(
Now, horrible pain but still I did something unplanned, other person in gym had to do 242.5kg but couldn't, it was on the bar, my reps felt fine other than my finger so though **** it I'd try anyway, block out the pain:

242.5kg (244.5kg!) x 1 - well, wtf. Pain just blocked out, got the rep.

180x8 - FAST! Touch n go smashed them out.

Done

It was really annoying, I'd take the tension out of the bar a little before pulling and it was agony. Such a nightmare place to be injured :(

Sat 26th

Pointless events session. Just a really crap day that's not even worth posting about.

Mon 28th

Ortmeyer axle: clean first rep only.

Warm ups
Strict
40kg x lots front and back
40kg x lots front and back
60kg x lots
80x5

Push press
80x5

Work sets:
85 4x4 - 70%
95x2 - 80%
107.5x2 - 90%
85x10
Was lacking time as late to the unit and had to get my boy in 45 mins.
Smashed the reps out and went from 90% to the rep out 85kg pretty much straight away (not good but got more than 8 which was the plan).

Back from gettin my boy - 15mins going cold :(

Axle push press
85x10 - fast
95x5 - fast
80x8 - fast

Log incline bench
70xlots
90x10
110x5
110x5
Drop set
115x5, 90x7, 70x6 - feel the tricep burn!!

Happy, did what I had to do in limited time then went back and smashed some more out.
Tried a different way of cleaning the axle, continental grip but pulling right up to shoulders rather than belly clean. I've got the power to do that, but can't do a normal full clean as my fingers arent long enough!

Some ladies for you, of my liking.......

We'll start with Dianna Dahlgren. She has some stage pics as well (bikini model) but I prefer her normal modelling and her moto x pics :p

Deadlifts tonight. Amended my ortmeyer goal from 250 to 260 and will redo week 2 at the new numbers:

Planned work sets:

180kg 4x4 - 70%
207.5kg 1x2 - 80%
232.5kg 1x2 - 90%
180kg 1x>8 - 70%

Might have a play on the GHR then, see how bad my hams are!

Deadlift motivation:

Done. Hard as hell though. Left calf felt tight as **** and it was really annoying me.

Also after the 4x4 I really needed a ****, but we have no toilet, and it's 4 miles from home. Good fun trying to keep that in while deadlifting!!

Deadlifts:
Warmups:
70xlots both sdl and normal DL
110xlots
150x10

Work sets:
180 4x4
210x2
232.5x2
180x8 didn't want to do any more, needed to get out of there so I could release the pressure lol.

Can't imagine getting your core bracing right... I've been in similar situations on the odd occasion and there's no question as to what is required. :)

Oh, and nice deads. :D

Yeah, it messes you right up to the point of almost "messing" yourself haha.
That's the worst thing about our unit, we have a bucket or can go outside for a #1, but #2 isn't possible lol

You see I find that guy's physique just monsterous obviously untenable for day to day living for me, but still find that more impressive than being skinny and defined. :p
