I've got huge plans to fix my life in 2014. These plans are around 3 months in the making. I'm going to be making a video diary of sorts and will post here on the forum, as well as other sources online, mostly as a method to keep myself motivated and on track. I hope these videos will serve others as much as they'll serve me as I aim to make them heartfelt, fun and hopefully a little inspiring.

Before I go any further - I know my approach will not necessarily be met with positive responses by everyone here. The fact is, I've tried many, many approaches over the past few years, with varying degrees of success - but never with any ongoing results. All entirely my doing, but also as a result of not managing my expectations properly.

My videos will hopefully come across as honest and accurate. I intend to show the bad and good sides of my journey. I'm around 21st 3lb (will get more accurate figures soon) and I plan to get to 13st as a maximum. I understand this will take some time.

I have a plan involving juicing, progression to a plant-based whole foods diet and on from there. I'm starting DDP Yoga as a low-impact cardio exercise with a view to running/skipping in the future.

My closest friends ran a 5k Spartan Race last year. I'm going along this year on 30th August. I intend to take part - and to complete the race. In my current state, running 0.5k is impossible. But life is too short to observe and not to take part. I'm sick of feeling sick, I'm tired of looking tired.

I welcome comments and support. Berating my approach and choices is not welcome, but I understand you are free to do so.

I've got a couple of introduction videos which I'll post shortly, until then...

Thanks for reading and welcome on board :)

So started my juicing today. Been a rough day though, got a cold on and didn't get up until midday. Which in some ways is a good thing. I think the 'mean green' juice is going to take some getting used to and I'm going to have a few harsh days but by Sunday I should be feeling better hopefully...

Just a quick update before my next video log. It's day four and I'm settling into juicing although still feeling a bit rough, definitely getting there though.

7lbs down already :)

Good luck with it.

Out of interest how did you get the dent to the ole noggin'?

I took part in an international fighting tournament, with expert street fighters coming from all across the globe. I did quite well until I went up against Bison and he KO'd me.

Or - I fell over and split my head open when I was about 3 in my garden on the patio.

Day 12 - Just done my first attempt at the DDP Yoga workout 'Energy'. Totally killed me in 21 minutes. Heart rate was at 165! Had a few tough days mentally with the not eating but feeling better today. Broke the 1st mark this morning, now lost 15lb since NYE!

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead was a motivator to try and do something for good this time. It is pretty crazy, but I know from previous endeavors that I have to remove food from the equation for a while to start seeing results, motivate myself and also try to reapproach my diet with a fresh set of eyes. It is quite hardcore, but on Day 13 today and I'm not hungry, just having severe cravings for Pizza! It's the Spartan Race that's keeping me focused, I'm starting to feel like I totally want to transform myself and do a good job with my friends. I don't want the three of them having to drag me over walls and stuff.

Just been looking at Crossfit and Krav Maga, as there's a new gym nearby that does both. Sticking with DDP Yoga for now but I'll need more intense training at some point possibly.

Starting Week 3 today. 16.5lb down!

Went to check out CrossFit and Krav Maga last night. Both look awesome and mental. Can't really afford both as it's £80 per month but I'd love to if I could. Might just start with Krav, have to do some maths!

So this happened.

Now this is the story all about how
My life got fixed, turned right back round
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became slim and strong like a bear

In West Kent county, born and raised
In McDonalds where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, drinking, eating all the food
And all shooting some bad guys like a gamer dude
When a couple of pies, that had done me no good
Started making trouble in my massive pud
I got one little fright and my mind got scared
And said "You're moving your fat arse up and out of that chair"

I juiced for a while and out went beer
My veggies were "fresh" and I had nice year
If anything I could say that this change was rare
But I thought nah, forget it, this diet is fair!

I turned up to a race on Day 30, Month Eight
And I yelled to the belly "Yo, flab, see you later!"
Looked at my body I was finally there
To run with my friends, without gasping for air.

I wish you good luck - The idea of a 'juice fast' doesn't sound good to me though but whatever works for you.

I took a different approach which I've mentioned here and I'm still finding it dead easy, almost exactly six months in. I started off heavier than you are and effectively I'm just eating less and moving significantly more. I still eat all the same stuff as before, just less of it. I have no problems with bacon double cheeseburgers or pizza :)

MyFitnessPal is absolutely essential to me so I can keep a track.

I read your thread a while ago :) well done! Unfortunately I need to do something to drastically change my life. No one thinks a juice fast sounds like a good idea until they do some research (or watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead) but it's definitely working.

It's just the first stage of a huge plan, try not to assume I haven't tried smaller portions, because I have. Obviously I'm having less calories! I'm also getting a lot of goodness and nutrition I've been sorely lacking. I don't want to eat less of what I've always eaten, I'm changing my tastes.

I've done a short juice fast with Joe and have juice's for breakfast once in a while (Carrot apple & ginger is lovely). The mean green I don't mind too much but my wife can't stand them, makes her gag :D don't envy you having it every day for a fortnight! Beyond that i'm going for as natural a diet as i can, minimal processed stuff so having home made museli, salads & grilled meat etc and fish and lots of veg generally.

Got many weird looks buying a shopping trolleys worth of cucumber etc yet? Its a little weird putting through an entire shop of veg at first, especially when your doing it for two :D

Which juicer did you go for? Our Philips HR1863 Viva Juicer blew up after about 3 months so were onto the Breville VFJ016 Pro Kitchen, it seems better, but a little wetter pulp...

Anyhows good on you mate, and keep it up!

Cheers, I've got the Sage, basically the same one Joe uses in FSND. Seems good!

Planning to go whole foods only for a month or two after the fast too :)

4.3g per 100g of Kale.. just how much are you consuming a day? The protein content in vegetables is low.

Kale is just one. Every day I'm getting through several kgs of fruit and veg. Granted, it's not the same as eating meat, but it's enough. There are things I can specifically use if I need protein.
