I will have one full crop of big ones. I expect they will ripen mid-November. hooray for growing indoors

Crazy /re your greenhouse

Are you actually overwintering them? I thought you could get by with little/no sunlight for that but you needed to keep them above zero centigrade?

ive had a rough go at overwintering.

they are in the shed window so should get a bit of natural light/heat from that (the greenhouse was dropping to 3c overnight anyway recently) and will monitor temps etc. but will fleece them up if it gets much colder.

Hi guys, glad to see there are some other chilli enthusiasts on the forum. I myself post over at the chillisgalore forums with my grow logs. The season is seriously winding down for me now but i'll stick in a few prime photos from this year so you can see how I faired.

I've got a growlist for next year and i'm turning it up a notch, already managed to grab some seeds from my contacts in other countries via the net. Check out these bad boys for next season:

Bhut Jolokia rust
Capsicum eximium Cap500
Capsicum Rhomboideum
Guatemala Tepin Tikal (Annuum var. glabriuscylum)
Yaki blue fawn
Pink Tiger
Goats Weed
Aji Lemon drop
Aji (unnamed)

And that's all for now, anyone who is interested in seeing my complete log (from seed to this month)+ harvest shots can visit the thread here: http://www.chillisgalore.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=15290&hilit=lytton

Well my Scotch Bonnets have been Dire in their performance with no more than 10-20 viable fruit.

The Aji's I've currently got about 150-175 picked and wondering what to do with them all and I gave about 50 away. They are also still producing new fruit this late on, although a few of them have been very mild compared to the rest.

Anyone got any advice on over wintering the plants? I'm going to save 2-3 of each and get rid of the rest as 15 plants was a bit much for only 1 varieties

Aji's are very idiot proof i found as i completely messed my plants up letting them get too lanky before pruning but i've still had over 200 fruits off them

Aww man mine are completely gone now ready for winter. How'd you keep them going so long? Night time temp perhaps?

I guess so. They are indoors but behind curtains [edit: at night] and the windows don't fit the frames 'perfectly' so I have some towels over the gaps. Don't think we've had a frost here yet. Doubt they'll last long if an icy wind attacks from SW->W.

I have used this technique successfully for five years. At the end of the season they are in my largest pots and are mahussive. When I have cropped the last fruit I follow these steps:

1. Chop off every branch back to the stem
2. Chop the stem off at about 10cm (see first post of this thread)
3. Remove from big pot and shake off all the old compost
4. Wash off the remaining compost in lukewarm water
5. Trim the rootball with scissors so that it will fit nicely in a smaller pot (use the smaller pot as a size guide and remember that we nee to put soil in too)
6. Put fresh compost in the bottom of the new (smaller) pot.
7. Sit the trimmed down plant onto the compost and pack fresh compost all around (press it down cos we need to get it between the roots BE CAREFUL AND TRY NOT TO DAMAGE THE ROOTS)
8. Store somewhere at room temperature with lower light levels (ie. not a window sill... but not pitch black 24/7 either)
9. In February get them on a warm window sill and they'll bounce back

This method doesn't work for everyone but has never failed me.

Wow that's a lot of work,
Leave in a window. Water very occasionally, keep above freezing.
Almost 100% success rate. In fact stuff that was left in the wardrobe with zero light and zero water for 3+ months had a 75% success rate.

For overwintering?

I still have some scotch bonnets slowly ripening. Overall they have been slow developers, but eventually I got a decent haul.

Yep, my last crops are still ripening on two naga vipers, one normal naga, a nagalah, a brain strain, and an infinity. Everything was so late getting going this year.

Can't believe I've just found this thread!!!, I'm growing about 9 different types under lights!!! Including the new Guinness Record holderThe Carolina Reaper!!!
I think I potted them on too quick though because they seem to be growing out but not up!! Fed on Chillie Focus once sometimes twice a week!!!!
