England squad to face Montenegro and San Marino.

GK: Foster, Hart, Forster

Defender: Baines, Cahill, Cole, Dawson, Ferdinand, Johnson, Smalling, Walker,

Midfielders: Carrick, Cleverley, Gerrard, Lampard, Lennon Milner, Osman, Parker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Young

Forwards: Defoe, Rooney. Sturridge and Welbeck

Can't for the life of me work out why Hodgson has called up Osman, the guy has been dead on his feet the past couple of games. Finally seen the error of his ways and recalled Rio. I think Dawson being in the squad is a good move as well.

Not good news for anyone traveling to the San Marino game:

It appears that there will be a public transport strike in Italy on the day England play in San Marino.

The last time a strike was planned it was called off at the last moment, but it has been reported that this one will go ahead.

On Friday 22nd March and Monday 25th March 2013 transport strikes are due to take place in Italy.

Flights, trains as well as local public transport will be affected. Please see below for details:

Friday 22nd March 2013:
AIR: Flight attendants (Alitalia) will be on strike for 4 hours from 12.00 to 16.00.
LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Local public transport staff will be on strike for the whole day (24 hours)

Monday 25th March 2013:
RAIL: Train drivers (Trenitalia) will be on strike for 8 hours from 09.00 to 17.00

Rio Ferdinand has been forced to withdraw from the squad and has been replaced by Steven Caulker.

Now Cahill out for Friday:

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has been ruled out of England’s World Cup qualifier with San Marino on Friday evening.

Cahill was assessed by England medical staff on Monday and will not be able to take part in the match, but will be reassessed later in the week with a view to the qualifier against Montenegro on Tuesday.

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor will join the squad in place of Cahill.

The Rio love has started:

EXCLUSIVE: Plane stupid! Rio sparks outrage as he jets 15 HOURS to be TV pundit for England match which he pulled out off over back injury fears

Rio Ferdinand, who withdrew from England’s World Cup qualifiers to look after his chronic back problem, will fly to Qatar to work on a television broadcast of Friday’s game against San Marino.

The Manchester United defender has agreed to be a pundit on Al Jazeera for the San Marino match, even though it will entail a 15-hour round trip to their headquarters in Doha.

The travel schedule will hardly help a back problem so delicate that Ferdinand pulled out of Roy Hodgson’s squad so as not to jeopardise his treatment

England starting eleven:

Joe Hart, Kyle Walker, Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Frank Lampard (c), Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young.
