2015 F1 car launches

Let's face it they could smother it in mud and it would still be more interesting than the bland Mclaren grey. It looks like the kind of livery a back running team would use, a Virgin or such team.

I have a feeling that Mclaren won't be using a red and white livery for some reason.

Yeah, just livery however.
Do we want individual threads as per previous years?

Torro Rosso launching on the 31st.

Yes why not, I've created a Mclaren-Honda one, will leave the other ones for anyone else :)

If Omnicorse are telling the truth Merc are going to use the full 500 bar turbo pressure in 2015. Merc only used 250-300 bar in 2014.

I think Williams will be the only team to catch Merc this season.

500 Bar? I don't think so.

1 Bar is atmospheric pressure. 2 Bar is a decent turbo set up, 3-4 bar is getting extreme. 500 is just an error.

"new Bosch injection system capable of turbo pressure to the regulations-maximum of 500 bar."

That's what it says. So Direct fuel injection up to 500bar.

Ferrari\Renault\Honda won't get anywhere near Merc power and low fuel usage.

1600cc, V6
15000 rpm max
Direct fuel injection up to 500bar
Single turbocharger
Controlled fuel flow

500 Bar would be feasible for a fuel injection pressure. Sounds like someone who doesn't know what they're talking about got their numbers mixed up.

Found this which would seem to suggest it's actually referring to fuel pressure:

5.10.1 The pressure of the fuel supplied to the injectors may not exceed 500bar

Was probably a combination of poor translation from Italian and a lazy journo.

That's what I posted from the adam cooper site. Wonder what that translates to turbo power?

All irrelevant with the fuel flow rate isn't it? Turbo pressure and revs are capped by association by the slow limit. Higher fuel pressure just means getting the limited amount they can use into the cylinders quicker?

Nothing to do with turbo pressure mind. Lol 500bar.

Fuel pressure limits boost indirectly. Higher cylinder pressures require higher injector pressures in order to allow good fuel atomisation and consequently good combustion.
