2016 Track Days

The first corner "paddock hill" is great! its the dip at the end which i don't like as it really compresses your spine and makes your stomach go funny. Clear ways is the one to watch you can get some proper fast knee down action there :)

What's an 'everything' session?

Stupid phone, i meant evening session. MSV do them for about 20 quid a session and normally run 4-5 sessions but i think its only for novice and intermediates.

The plus side with Brands, there's not many corners to memories!

Oh really.... :D I may have to have a look and see when one is one and come down as a spectator - as I said I'm literally 10-15 minutes down the road (25 minutes the interesting route!). I'd be in novice for a while too :D

I've booked April 20th Oulton Park and 14th May Oulton Park. Havne't done track in ages now, and only ridden once since September, rusty Pug this is going to be. Sure it'll all come back after couple of morning sessions out.

Haven't done one since I got rid of the GSXR, but tempted to take the GS on track....might need 100% road tyres though as currently on TKC70's

Quite fancy Oulton again - I think that would suit the GS

The GS does fine on track, my dad had fun stuffing it past sportsbikes :D

Easy and accurate way to measure my bikes dB output?

Just looking at the MSV one Famas spoke about and limit is 102dB.

If you have any tracks close they can do a sound test for you, failing that maybe some bike MOT places might have an accurate DB meter.

As the APP wasn't accurate I bought one of these... it measure 3db lower than officially at Oulton... 98db, 101db at Oulton. so seem to be decently accurate. You have to measure at same distance etc obviously.

Booking is open if anyone is interested. Its only £65 for the day an dit all goes to charity. Did it last year and was a good day.

Ive booked for the Sat only in the inters

I'm tempted by that it's not too far away.

Edit: Payment by cheque!? I can't remember the last time I seen my cheque book and I've certainly never used it!

I would like to go on a track day but not on my 125. Maybe when I get something a bit bigger (SV650, ER6F or CBR600).

I did the Ron Haslem race school back in August and they provide everything. Leathers, helmet, bike, even a back protector if you want so you only need to turn up.

Well worth the money IMO :)

Brilliant :)

Sounds very worth it IMO.

I used to track my RX8, I learned more about handling and driving on the track day than I did in the 2 years I owned it.

Depending on days, I might be able to make it but I fear that as the winter draws in, there will be fewer track days available.

I've done it twice and I wouldn't say it's worth the money.

The instructor can make or break the day. The first time I did it the instructor was great, really pushing us on and I had a brilliant time. Second time I did it the instructor was sloooow, kept pulling over to wave people past so I completely wasted the day (I say "day" but it's just 3 x 15 minute sessions).

You're better off doing a normal track day to be honest, even if you have to hire a bike from Smallboys or somewhere it'll work out similar cost to Ron Haslam day but you get 6/7 x 20 minute sessions.
