2017 Holiday Thread

memories and experiences are worth far more than materlistic things you probably don't need.
you say one day, but chances our you wont do it unless you push yourself.
get a passport and go, or do something in the uk. there's so many ways to have a holiday, its doesn't have to be just sunning it on a beach like most people seem to do. Sport, adventure, festivals, food there's a 101 things you can base it around.

I'd second this.

I've taken every opportunity over the last 15 years to travel, whether it be a year out, a month, a couple of weeks, or just a city break. None of the trips have been expensive, you can make whatever budget exists stretch quite easily. Each to their own of course, but for me getting away from what you know is rewarding; whether you are interacting with different scenery, different language and cultures, people from a different background to you.

If you are UK-bound, personally I'd recommend a self-drive around Scotland. Spectacular Highlands scenery, plenty of activities or relaxation - whichever the agenda - and you can really get off the beaten track and away from people if you so wish.

I'm as anti social as they get, the thought of a group holiday literally makes my skin crawl!

Even married with three kids I still sometimes bug out for a few days - pack a kit bag, throw a one man tent on my shoulder and jump on the first train that comes into the station and see where it takes me. Had some very enjoyable breaks like that and it's wonderful for the soul.
