I'm in the market for an Ipad, still weighing up options as to whether to get a Mini 4, Ipad or Pro... A few times I've seen comments about the new Ipad not being very good in direct sunlight.

Difficult to test this in a store, but can anyone provide any comments on this issue? Does the new Ipad work well outside in the midday sun?

I had one but sent it back. I found the screen horrid it felt weird and was basically a mirror in any light. I had the Air 2 which was much better with no noticeable performance difference. I'm now awaiting delivery of a 10.5 Pro.

It's because the 'new' iPad has the same display as an iPad Air. The Air 2 removed the air gap between glass and screen and IIRC had a better anti-reflective coating, which gave it a pink tinge from some angles but did actually reduce glare.

I would save up a bit more for the 10.5" iPad Pro OR get a deal on a iPad Pro 9.7" (which the 10.5" just replaced); everything about them is markedly better and you have the option of using things like the Pencil in the future if you want to, where as the non-Pro 9.7" you can't. You get quad speakers too which does make a big difference to audio in landscape mode.

The extra cost is difficult to justify... I'm going away with work to Iceland next week, and my allowances are huge. I can afford to buy a non-Pro with works money if I eat sensibly, but can't stretch to a Pro. Difficult to justify with my own pennies, especially since my requirements deem I need a 128gb model. I think I'm going to have to argue between the mini and the Pro. When one is almost double the cost of the other, its going to be difficult to let go of that much cash.

I think the 2017 Ipad has been removed from the shopping list, so that's progress at least!

There was some good Air 2 deals about might be worth looking into. There are usually refurbished ones on the Apple Store too.

Yeah Air 2 then I'd say, unless you can score a 2nd hand or Refurbed 9.7" Pro (there are people selling them to upgrade to the 10.5" because... just because).

I think i'd be happy with the Mini 4, it's mainly for games/magazines and some movie watching. But I mistakenly read the New iPads Tomorrow thread....

I want the 10.5" goodness!
