England squad:

Forster (Southampton), Hart (Torino), Heaton (Burnley); Bertrand (Southampton), Cahill (Chelsea), Clyne (Liverpool), Jagielka (Everton), Keane (Burnley), Rose (Tottenham), Stones (Man City), Walker (Tottenham); Dier (Tottenham), Drinkwater (Leicester), Henderson (Liverpool), Wilshere (Bournemouth), Lallana (Liverpool), Lingard (Man Utd), Rooney (Man Utd), Sterling (Man City), Townsend (Crystal Palace); Walcott (Arsenal), Kane (Tottenham), Rashford (Man Utd), Sturridge (Liverpool), Vardy (Leicester).

Laughable that Antonio isn't in, 5 goals in 11 games obviously isn't a good enough return. I think Redmond was worthy of a shout as well.

Southgate is just another FA joker though, so not surprising to see players not being picked on form.

You can't pick players on the back of a handful of good games. Not for international football. It's bad enough in England getting a unit that rarely gets together without throwing in every player on a great streak of form. They withdraw from friendlies, you cant expect any consistency at all, even worse than it already is if you just kept picking on current form.

As for Roy Keane, what a chimp. How can such a great player be so utterly thick. Did he not even think to look at how little football Mccarthy has played?. His outburst was just embarrassing.

What do you pick them on then? Lingard's getting in because he plays for Man Utd.
Wilshere? I'm a fan, but he's done nothing.

I don't like either of those but my point is people always seem to think they should just throw form players in, regardless of system. We would be even more disjointed than we already are.

Either way England will suck, no one cares about the internationals.

one of the premier league players who plays for England needs to go out of their way to break Rooney's legs in their next league fixture. It's the only thing that will stop that retard southgate from insisting on having him in the squad.

Netherlands v Belgium live & free on Chelsea TV from 7.45pm. I don't think you have to register.

It should hopefully be on here.

Strong looking lineups for a friendly.

Looks like you do need to register and login. Sod that.

It's on Sky channel 422 for those of you that have Sky.

As an England fan i will be rooting for Scotland on Friday, in the very very slim hope that it might cause the kick up the backside the FA needs to sort the national team out properly.

Won't happen though we will win by the odd goal, Southgate will say Rooney played well despite being garbage and everyone at the FA will think he's doing a good job and give him a 2 year contract.

Gareth, is that you? Instead we pick players who aren't playing, or aren't playing well. Makes perfect sense.

As for 'handful of good games' - Redmond and Antonio were both performing last season as well, they've just continued it. At what point would you suggest they get a shot? Never?

It's exactly this kind of attitude as to why England are utter ****, because we like to pick players based on name, club or past form. Well, that and the constant attempts at shoe horning players into positions they don't play for their clubs to suit a particular system.

You just need to look at the France squad. If that was the England squad Martial would have been picked because he plays for United even though he's been playing poorly since the summer, instead it turns out that even though Coman has dropped out of the squad they've replaced him with some other 20 year old from Ligue 1 who is actually playing well instead of Martial.

Might watch the highlights, that way I only have to watch for about 30 seconds.

Annoying international break when the Premier League was getting good!

Here at Wembley now, nice seats too.

Waiting for the lineup to place bets. I'm thinking Walcott first, 2-0. Mate reckons Chris Martin first, 2-1....125/1.

What say ye?
