Because Terry in the past & Cahill / Smalling available now. It's good to have one defender who is a bit of a beast and one who can play.

Hmmm, i'm not so sure, i think if you're City, who have a lot of the ball then it's fine with someone like Stones. England don't really play circulation so having two proper defenders would be a lot more solid. It's not like someone like Scott Dann can't pass a football, he's just less likely to hit 70 yard cross field balls, he'll just pop it off to a dm or fb.
