Hi all,

Thinking a little bit ahead, I would like to try and plan some of the events that we could do and/or attend over the next year.

In 2017 we did a LOT of drag racing, be it at Santa Pod or Shakespeare County Raceway. We went to Curborough Sprint Course, had our rolling road day etc. It has been a good fun year for OcUK motoring!

So I'd like to know what other things you would like to do car wise next year with a view to arranging a few more events for us to get back into enjoying our cars a bit more as we seemingly did a few years back on this forum.

A few things I would like to personally do are below in no particular order:

Curborough Sprint Course day
Santa Pod (new concrete surface)
Rolling Road Day
Mallory Park track day
Blyton Park track day
Pistonheads or similar breakfast clubs / meets
OcUK VR Driving experience as a group of us from motors
Go-karting
Hill Climbs

So have your say and we'll see what we can get arranged for next year, putting down some more solid dates and separate threads as decisions are made.

Thanks :)

Just to help keep track of the meets:

Saturday 3rd March - OcUK HQ Motors Meet

Well definitely we should have at least 3 santa pod meetings in my opinion it's centrally located and good for most users, plus the new surface will be very interesting.

I was going to post some dates. All of the dates are when the pod has racing till 8 :)

I also attend at least 3 North weald Essex 1/4 mile events, during the year. That's providing the event is on this year.
If any southern petrol heads wish to come i can supply details.

I would love to try a hill climb event or something similar. However I don't know anywhere what supports these kind of events.

I think that we should also maybe attempt (very ambitious) maybe try and hold a car show of some sort.
Just a few ideas :)

I'd be up for them all pretty much though Blyton park does not interest me. But maybe add Donnington, Oulton to your list in form of a track day or maybe even an evening session track day with bookatrack as they tend to be well run, not too many people and of course cost less and are far less stressing on the vehicle due to limited time, but of course are a Summer months only option.

Curborough, Dyno day, random meets pretty much any time. My only real months are none available are late May and first few weeks of June (holidays) and January (holidays). :)

Sounds like a plan, im up for getting to a few more things this year. Want to get the green car out on track again. Always up for Curborough and want to get the R53 on a dyno to get a baseline figure.

I'm also looking at a midlands breakfast meeting early in the year, I will post up details over here as well, always good to get a good mix of cars and people on these things.

Santa Pod is always a must though.

Nurburgring would be epic imo.

Track days don't really interest me that much as I have never done one so don't know what's involved.

Go karting would be cool though.

Well up for that, make it Donnington, we did one many years ago where a few of us was running, think it was when I had the CSL.

I will have a word with the TDO who organised other private track days and find out what is involved. I am talking about a track day only open to members of OCUK Motors, not a public day where a few of us head along. That way you get a better vibe if you know everyone on track and in the pit lane is from the forum. The challenge is always numbers as the lower the numbers the more expensive it is. Now I don't mind paying 300 quid for a half empty track but I suspect most members might bulk at that so would need to get numbers. Done properly with a TDO (Track Day Organiser) it can be really good.

I'm up for a meet, def. But, I have black grills on my white BMW. I'll need to buy fire-proof clothing first.

:D

edit - couldn't we all meet at OCUK towers? #discountedpartsfromGibbo

Palmersport day?

I'd love to do a track day, despite owning a standard knackered Civic Type-S, so long as I can drive it home it could be fun. Wish I had my MX-5 still :(

Absolutely possible. :)

Hence my VR at OcUK suggestion - maybe we could do a Saturday at OcUK - try and arrange a burger van/food, VR setup inside for racing, and offer a discount on purchases made from OcUK that day? Applicable only to Motors members of course...
