2020/21 Sack Race

If he wins the 1st few games I think he'll be ok but as soon as he loses a couple the hatred will spill from the stands

I hope he does well as he's Everton manager, but he's got an up hill struggle in front of him. It's going to be toxic as soon as he loses a couple of games. If that happens I doubt I'll bother going as it will just be miserable in the ground.

the man put up with the chaos at Newcastle and all the strife there. I think he can handle a few grumpy Evertonians. Fair play to the chap, he's a good manager and Everton will actually give him some spending money, unlike the shackles he had in the north east with Ashley clutching his purse strings tight.

I think it's an appalling signing for Spurs, and if anything confirms their plans for next season.

Kane should be sold.

If I were Kane I'd be off pronto, not because of Nuno, but he's only got so long left and why waste it at Spurs if the City rumours are correct? We assume of course it's not already a done deal - he just started scoring again so maybe he's done being distracted by contracts and now has a clause where his fees are Euro performance linked to help him focus.

I think people are missing the fact that Levy will only sell if his valuation is met and I would wager it won't be. He probably wants £120M+ and Kane has 3 years still left on his contract. He will be 31 by the time that ends. 30 by the time his value will drop significantly due to contract length.

I said at the start of the summer that he is unlikely to move this summer simply due to Levy. I stand by that.

Kane can want out all he likes, he won't be sold for less than Levy wants.

Never had the fans against him though, in fact it was the exact opposite. Probably got more credit than he deserved for what was a series of generally poor team performances and mediocre league finishes. Like someone said above, his tactic was to blame the owner for the teams shortcomings which had merit to be fair. Newcastle fans finally had a manager with a proven track record of wining trophies who was also a nice bloke. Good luck to him.

But no one will pay that so he ends up with a disgruntled player who's worth nothing in 3 years. I think he'll drop his valuation a bit.

This is not the Levy way. He couldn't give a damn if you have singled handily helped make your club into a great power. Look at what he did to Poch and now look at the mess. If anyone is at fault in all of this it is Kane for accepting a stupidly long contract.

He will spend the rest of his days at Spurs. Maybe he will get the England most goals scored and the prem record from Shearer and that will be it.

And/or for not insisting on a break clause that he could enact to force the issue.

I think you might be right. Poor chap.

It is a really strange situation to be in as obviously Kane is a top top player and money really isn't a issue for anyone even at championship levels. Why do players insist on signing long contracts? You look at most of the Major sports in America a lot of the big names do yearly contracts.

This would be beneficial both ways as the players will need to perform but also demand that wage if they are worth it. It would also drive down transfer fees and make football a hell of a lot more interesting. I would also assume Kane would have had the power to negotiate his own contract when he initially signed a 5 year deal. Why he didn't do a two to three with an option for 4 is beyond me.

Is it factoring in a risk of injury maybe? Wanting a safety net of payments and support if brutal players like Ramos/Rudiger etc dislocate your shoulder/break your face or similar and put you out for a stretch?

It's presumably also the clubs wanting to secure their star player assets. Can you imagine yearly contracts with the money of PSG, Man City etc able to swoop in every transfer window and just take their pick of whoever scored most last season?
