Been struggling lately with my PC to play some of the newer games without slow down and or stutter to the point of being unplayable.
I have everything up to date Graphic and OS drivers . Really noticed it in last 2 months attmepting to play Alan Wake 2 and Robocop. Even some of Steam Library stuff cannot run at full.
As I say spec was Jan 2020 . see below.

Not sure if I have an upgrade path with exiting spec or would I be better to start fresh?
Approx £1500 to £2000 to spend? Been out of loop for approx 4 years so after sound advice for PC to again get me 4/5 years before slow down.
Any advice much appreciated.

GPU is need of an upgrade you could just do that and see how it goes but if you want then the 9800x3d is the fastest gaming CPU but it's £500 along with a motherboard and memory we're talking approx £750+ depending.

New GPUs are just around the corner, the 5000 series from Nvidia in January so it mite be wise to wait.

A gpu upgrade like a 7800xt or 7900gre would roughly double+ graphic performance for £450-£550 although it might be worth waiting as both amd and nvidia are both releasing new cards in the new year so really depends on how quick you want to upgrade.

Full upgrade now

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,478.96 (includes delivery: £0.00)

You will also need to get a new mounting kit for your excellent cooler from noctua. You might even be able to get it free if you can prove you purchased it (if they still do that).

Yup they sent me Am5 conversion kit for my D14, fantastic as that means prolong the life of a £100 cooler. Not like it's £20 so who cares.

Problem is those games are both Unreal Engine, which is badly designed, so getting a PC to get those to play properly will cost you.

I bet Doom Eternal plays really well on your PC compared to Robocop.
It does flawlessly;)
Will wait a little longer as per advice.
Am I ok with existing Tower as well as PSU?

Your next GPU choice maybe you should consider the upscalling tech such as DLS or fsr as these will give you more acceptable FPS in-game like Alan Wake 2.

While AMD offer better rastarizaion performance for you money Nvidia do better upscaling and ray tracing so it should be something you should consider in your next purchase.

Case is fine an so is your PSU and if you get a Nvidia GPU it will come with a adapter cable so your good .

GPU first then CPU , mobo , memory if you want the best and selling your old stuff should pay for an x3d but I would tempted to keep the 5700xt as a back up GPU to keep you inte game is stuff happens, even if it is at a lower resolution. :D

Let's us know what you decide.
