I thought I would make a new thread for the new QD-OLED technology, so not to spoil other threads, I will be buying the Sony 65A95K on release, current owners and reviewers of the Samsung S95B which has been released in the USA seem very impressed

Looks like the QD OLED might suffer from the light reflection/diffusion issue of the Alienware.

LG OLED:

QD OLED

Looks almost IPS-like
I would go more VA than IPS TBH it doesn’t look too bad to me still looks nice and black, also I’m not sure how many people allow direct light to hit the screen(can damage OLED screens), Top emission panels were always going have a problem with direct light shinning on the screen due to the panel structure and there is also a lack of a polarising layer. People seem to forget plasmas did the same thing.

Full gaming comparison:

In most of these I find the c2 looks better. They are close but I just find the c2 colors to look more natural. I do prefer the s95 in forza there it the extra brightness works wonders but in god of war and Elden ring I don't like the colors on the s95 and the highlights are too bright- I don't mind bright highlights but it shouldn't be so bright it crushes detail, Samsungs qled panels crush detail and their QD-OLED does the same thing, its very offputting

That’s because WOLED has got people used to that colour tone who now think it looks right and that’s the way it should look, put up a pioneer kuro or Panasonic plasma against both QD-OLED and WOLED and QD-OLED would be a closer match to the plasma colour. I’m not saying WOLED is bad I have owned one since 2014, it’s just OD-OLED is the next step to a more accurate better picture quality, the true leap forward will be when microLED becomes mainstream

LG better have an answer to rgboled, if not, ouch.
The do it’s called lower prices, WOLED doesn’t all of a sudden become a bad buy because of QD-OLED(it still produces an amazing picture and dynamic range), this will be great for the consumer, because of QD-OLEDs release I have no doubt we will see 55” LG OLED for around £5/600 and 65” for under £1000 come Black Friday, it’s going to be weird because it’s probably going to be more expensive to buy a 42/48” OLED over a 55” OLED.

is the game developers intended output? If you've played Elden ring you'll know that throughout he game there is a giant bright yellow tree that takes up half the screen that's always there. On the qd-OLED the tree is basically invisible the background is just a big white blur, it's ridiculous. When brightness on the TV extends beyond what occurs in real life outdoors it's just silly and off putting - when I watch the HDr videos on the QD-OLED showing beaches and forest etc I'm like wtf I've been to a couple rainforests and many many beaches in several countries and I've never in my life seen anything that looks this alien, the colors are so over saturated and way too bright
Wait a minute your judging a TVs dynamic range and what it looks like through what your seeing on a tv/iPad/monitor from a youtube channel that’s filmed from a camera that doesn’t have the dynamic range of the TV and YouTubes compression? Or do you have the Alienware monitor? If it’s the first there is now way you can judge a tv by a YouTube video. What I will also say is no TV can even come close to the brightness of “real life outdoors”

I agree that Samsung do overbrighen everything, which is why I have the A95K on order

Have to say I'm not overly convinced by the crop of QD-OLED and similar tech displays coming out - they all seem to have at least one serious disadvantage and while it is far from perfect overall none seem to have quite the lifelike punch colours/light has on the Philips 436M6 QD-LED VA - even though black levels are not amazing on the display. If they just improved the graininess at close range due to BGR pixel layout, uniformity and black levels and got it up to around 120Hz that display would take a lot of beating. Even SDR content looks incredibly good on it.

For a VA it has surprisingly good pixel/latency response as well - so far I've not seen any of the normal VA smearing, etc. and I'm usually very sensitive to it.
If your sensitive to Pixel response and smearing I don’t understand why you haven’t gone for a LG CX/1/2 with its instantaneous pixel response time and no smearing, the only thing the Phillips beats the LG on is it’s insane sustained brightness, TBH I don’t think QD-QLED would be a good choice as a monitor due to its pixel structure especially for productivity work

Usual people that can't accept criticism are accusing Vincent Teoh oh being a paid LG shill in the comments now.

I swear people don't watch the videos, they just get upset and lash out

He clearly says that as a consumer if your preference is the Samsungs artificially brightened image, then that is a valid choice to make.

HDTV tests whole preference is about it being accurate, which you would hope and expect from somebody who calibrated TVs for many years.

For me the most damning thing about it is the red car in the footage of 'Once upon a time in Hollywood' taking your eyes away from where Tarantino wants you to be looking. That's going to happen in a lot of movies and I'd rather be invested in the movie, not my brain going "woah that pops out"
Exactly this, the meltdown on the yank AVS is absolutely hilarious

Hey all I had a Samsung S95B that I sent back for poor Uniformity I was gonna get another one but I'm starting to think i should spend more for the Sony A95k anyone here seen both ? The stutter on 24fps content on the sammy was doing my head in, I know its the same panel in the sony but I hear the motion processing is better with sony so if help just a little on the lower settings without adding much soap opera effect I think that might be worth the extra dosh.

The auto dimming was doing my head in too and I didn't know the sony didn't have this due to a heatsink would I be right to assume that the added heatsink also helps with preventing burn in ? plan on playing games and I do watch a good amount of twitch with the chat to the side seen people post about the samsung getting burn in from desktop use but I cant find anything of the A95K.
I have the A95K and it’s by far the best TV I have ever owned, the processing and scaling is so far ahead of anything Samsung can put out.
