So , now that the season is done , looking ahead to next season, how do you think your team will do next season?

Note , not how you hope they will do but how you honestly think they will actually do, which is invariably never what we hope :)

Are you expecting top 4 finish? Relegation? Midtable? A cup final or even a cup win? Are you expecting the rigours of European football to decimate your league position or are you expecting to wage a successful campaign on all fronts? What would you deem to be a successful 23/24 season and what would constitute a failure of a 23/24 season?

Preseason expectations: Top 4
Actual: 3rd and Carabao Cup
Best player: Casemiro
Best signing: Martinez
Best young player: Garnacho
Most improved: Rashford
Biggest ****: Ronaldo/Glazers joint award

If you'd told me we'd finish 3rd and reach two cup finals (and win one of them) I would have bitten your hand off. Expectations next year are tricky because it entirely depends on how long the Glazers take to finally **** off. They seem quite intent on ruining at least one more summer so we'll stick with top 4 and challenge for cups. CL it would be nice to reach the QF's but really it depends on the draw and some luck.

The worst season ever. From finishing 9th to 18th in one season, just unbelievable.

Rodgers, Rudkin and Whelan have got a lot to answer for us getting relegated.

Hoping for a new manager (Potter), new players, since we let 7 of the 1st team fall out of contract. Maddison will be sold, no doubt at a cut price fee.

Preseason expectations: Top 10
Actual: 18th
Best player: Maddison
Best signing: none
Best young player: Iversen
Most improved: Iversen
Biggest ****: Rodgers, Rudkin and Whelan.

Couple more decent midfield signings and back to challenging for the league, I'd also like to see a proper go of the EL, who doesn't love a European cup run!

I think Tombstone was looking for predictions for next season, not reviews of the season just gone guys.
Nail on the head there :)

Essentially trying to ascertain whether people are feeling good about the coming season or wary about the coming season and what they truly think will happen with their team next season.

Particularly interested in teams that are going to be having a different situation next year and what they think it will mean, for example, will Liverpool return as a force, will European football drop the likes of Newcastle and Brighton down to midtable positions in the league or will they cope fine, will the Evertons and Forests of the league be embroiled in relegation again or will they kick on now. Will the newly promoted teams (if we have any of their supporters on here) be rooted to the bottom or be surprise packages, will Spurs and Chelsea drop further behind the pack or will they recover.

I’m slightly nervous about next season because of how good this season was. Can we keep it up and challenge again next year or will the demands of CL football hurt us.

Young players are a bit older and wiser, so hopefully some improvement there, but a lot depends on how the others who have been poor this year do.

Id love a title challenge but realistically, we have to aim for another top 4 spot. I don’t want to yo-yo in and out of the CL.

Like all clubs, summer business will be very important

It felt like it went on forever, with the World Cup in the middle making a massive difference. Ronaldo Saga felt like it was last season and not the current one.

Man City won the league as expected, the surprise improvement of Arsenal was nice to see and so was the real surprise into the top 4 from Newcastle.

Chelsea and their implosion I must say was quite satisfying, on one hand it was sad that Potter never got the time he was promised but what can you expect when the higher ups just kept signing players after players with no clear strategy.

Oh, I think Man United done better than expected, winning a trophy wasn't really on the radar at the start and honestly 3rd was more than I had even hoped for.

READ THE OP!!!

Why is everyone having such difficulty comprehending this?

Well at least it’s a more relevant post than your previous one

You are grumpy today Rob....

I guess everyone took "your thoughts" is on something that HAPPENED in the past, rather than "your PREDICTION" on something that is going to happen, which is the better word to use.

What's your thought on a movie that you've never seen? for example.

I just fail to see how many people could totally miscomprehend the OP’s question.

I guess everyone took "your thoughts" is on something that HAPPENED in the past, rather than "your PREDICTION" on something that is going to happen in the future, which is the better, more appropriate, more fitting word to use.

What's your thought on the Marvel movie coming out next summer? for example.

I haven’t seen 2001: A space odyssey, but I’m pretty sure it would bore me to tears.

This is a lesson for how many people just read titles (and not that well) and don't read OP's. Loving Raymond doubling down rather than just admitting he goofed though :D

Since a lot of people actually done exactly what I've just done illustrates there is truth to it.

I think next season we (United) will finish top 4 again. As long as we spend ~£200m and fix the gaping holes in our team and ship out some more deadwood I would be fairly sure of 4th.

Going to be a super competitive year potentially with United, City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea competing for those 4 spots. I think City will win the league again but if Liverpool recruit sensibly they could run them close.

Arsenal fans will ignore this season and maintain that expectations are low despite using the previous season as proof that this season was a massive overachievement and they aren't sad that they threw away the league. Many dummies will be spat if they don't get top 4 next year.
