I know a few of us like a track day or two, so just thought it maybe easier to have a single thread on it? Anyone got any dates in mind for next year? I'm looking to do some pre season testing, so ideally looking an an RMA day at Donnington around February time! Anyone else keen?

Yeah, no motor racing is 'cheap', I'm fully prepared for the heart attack looking at the bills. :p
We went to watch a guy I know that does 750 mx5. I know he's spent quite a bit of money on that then had a big crash at T2 before we even saw him on track!

But it's so much fun, it's like an addictive drug! I spent on average £1300 a meeting this year, that's without tyres, pads, damage etc.

Had a mixed day at Donington yesterday, Audi TTCR car, has mega mega speed, but unfortunately the brakes are utter utter rubbish. I've spoken to the people developing the car for the series and there needs to be a fix ASAP. 3 laps and they were literally done! Times around the 1:20 mark, running the Nankang tyre with a safe suspension setup to get used to the car.

The fun cup car however, was literally one of the best things I have ever taken around a track! The grip is out of this world! They are a 1.8, 8valve VW engine on a single carb, 130hp with a SADEV paddleshift box. I managed a 1.24.4, more in the tank, but not my car to damage, especially with a £1500 excess!

Done Silverstone GP Circuit on the weekend, first time on that layout and second time I have been in the car. Managed to qualify 10th in Clubsport, 3rd in Class in the Audi on Nankang NS2R tyre. I was the only one in the top 15/20 on a road based tyre, not track based! Unfortunately my BOV split half way through qually, so the race was a total nightmare. Basically ran the entire race with hardly any boost :( Still had fun, managed a 2:31 around the GP layout

Been a busy week or so for me, I done the City Car Cup Round 1 at Snetterton, had three 3rd place finishes.
Then we went to Brands Hatch, weekend just gone for the first Audi TT Cup Racing series race ever, unknown car, hardly any experience around the Track, managed to Qualify 1st, Win Race 1 with Fastest lap and 2nd Place Race 2!! :D:D:D

Next few track/test days booked, and some races coming up at last! 2 months since the first round, been ages

23rd June - Cadwell Park test/track day
24th June - Cadwell Park race
13th July - Donington track evening
14th July - Donington test day (evening/test day may be split, so 2 drivers for each)
15th July - Donington Race
26th July - Snetterton track day
6th August - Snetterton race

Never been to Cadwell Park before, looking forward to it
Cadwell is mega, one of my favourite tracks.

The weekend just gone was my first time back out in the Audi since April and it's felt like a life time! I done the Audi TTCR series and Clubsport meeting as well at Donny. Managed a 1:48.xxx on absolutely ***** Nankang NS2R tyres. Scott from darkside managed 1:46.xxx on A052, so will upgrade my tyres for Clubsport meetings, but we have to run the Nankang control tyre for the TTCR series

Next up for me is Knockhill in July!! Never been before

Track day went really well yesterday. Car ran great all day and I felt I was getting my confidence as the day went on, morning session was just finding the right settings for adjustable coilovers as they weren't right.
Only thing I'm looking at doing is replacing the brake fluid, that seemed to be the limiting factor for the brakes. Pads and discs felt solid.
Castrol SRF is your friend. Where abouts in South Wales are you

Busy week or so coming up for me.

Wife is working an evening for Javelin at Snetterton on Thursday. Perks of the job will hopefully mean I get to take the GT86 out for few laps after I finish work. Then got a double header with the MR2 in the Javelin Sprint Series at 3 sisters this weekend. Got a chance to clinch the class championship if things go well.

Then I’m doing Quick 60 at Mallory the weekend after (Should be a live stream on YouTube for that one so I’ll bung up a link once I’ve got one). Just got a first look at the entry list and it looks like I’m unlikely to be challenging for silverware but it’ll be something slightly different and, more importantly, a chance to get familiar with the circuit before we go back with JSS in September
Good luck with the sprint championship

On a track day how much times do you guys generally go out? I did 7 runs of about 20 minutes and was knackered by 4pm lol. I know it's car/driver dependant but I'm surprised people pay that money then only seem to go out 2/3 times.
I tend to go out once or twice in the morning, then come the afternoon when it's quieter, go out a bit more.

When racing the Friday test sessions are usually 25/30 mins x 4 and that's usually more than enough. Only issue with test days is red flags, I've literally had two sessions in one day wiped out due to red flags. Not good when they are £400 with msv!

My Audi TTCR seasons starts next weekend at Brands Hatch, we are on the TCR package this year so should be good! We have 40+ cars entered alone! I am running a team this year as well so will be four of us in total, me, my other car rented out and two owner drivers! Busy times ahead.

I haven't had any time to do any testing this year, I have done 1 multi class clubsport meeting at Silverstone international, in which I finished 3rd overall, 1st in class so a mega start to the season

Just got to bring some sponsorship in this year as it's costing me a fortune!

Hopefully do a few track days
