2024 Chilli Growing Thread

do one inside and it likely won;t ever see aphids.

I grew some on my kitchen window fine, they gave peppers no problems
I've had aphids indoors 3 times ovee the last few years. A nightmare. Trying to wash the plants hasn't worked for me. Is there a more brutal i.e. chemical solution?

if you got flowers in your garden ladybirds are the answer. they munch through them like machines. you can even buy them on amazon. i did it two years ago to save my plants. they ate em all in under a day. they will fly off though once they finished the job. :D

If you can grow some rosemary nearby, ladybirds love it, then they'll go eat all your aphids.

Rosemary is very easy to grow as well, grows like a weed in my garden and it's always covered in ladybirds.

Cheers & to DG, I will give this a go this year.

Got gifted some plants today that have just been propogated. Appears to be Tabasco and Charleston Hot (2nd generation). Looks like they need a lot of light, thankfully had some sun today so took them outside.

Making me feel like I'm behind the times. Only planted my seeds on Friday so nothing to show yet. Hopefully by the time they emerge then we should start getting some warmer weather and get them out in the greenhouse sooner.

i started a little earlier this year as last year they seemed to take forever and was a little behind. to be fair the cold hasnt helped to get in front anyway really..ghost pepper got 6 up now but the jalopeanos and habeneros havent sprouted yet.

Cheated and bought the top ones as plug plants from chilisontheweb, middle of Jan.

And just like that, I killed all my seedlings. I moved them into the porch because it was warm over the weekend but left the propagator lid on. Then I forgot about them on Sunday and they got blasted with sun. By the time I remembered about them they were mostly shrivelled up and fallen over, I've only got about three left. :(

my 6 ghost peppers are under lights now seem to be doing okay . replanted some jalopeanos and habeneros as they never came through. fingers crossed.

thats sucks street.

@Molep I'm pretty certain we got the same grow lights.

I'm not doing Chillis this year, first time in about 10 years, had a run of bad seasons, I'm sticking to tomatoes this year.

Sensi 10W bulb + box with kitchen tin foil to boost light levels

12 hours on, 12 off in a room that is about 18 / 19 degrees constantly

40 days from planting the seeds

watering little but often and recently started putting small amount of maxicrop seaweed extract plant feed in the water, they love it

added loads of perlite and started them in the pots they are still in so not transplant shock and I wont need to pot on for a while yet
