2024 Chilli Growing Thread

Has anyone grown from seed this year? Ours were planted Feb/March and although they appeared in good time, not many are past the first 2-4 leaves stage.
Chocolate Naga, Red Naga and Carolina Reaper.
I did have White Naga seeds too but not one of them did anything.

No luck with seeds at all his year. Chillies or Marigolds

I've got some chilis on the go, planted Mar/Apr and around 9 inch tall, some have just started fruiting.

Having said that I've had a lot of seeds not germinate this year, even things that are supposed to be dead easy like sunflowers

My cheyenne F1's are 16" from 4" when bought on 22nd April. Ditto my scotch bonnets are 13" from 3" in the same time. Fruiting has just begun on the cheyenne.

Took my plants outside today to give them a bit of sun, one shrivelled up, the other two didn't look too healthy either.

Realised they are all aphid infected :(

Washed the aphids off the healthy two, but the shrivelled one is gone I think.

I've moved them next to a rosemary plant to try and attract ladybirds as suggested, but I think this might be a case of either keep washing the plants heavily for a while or thinking about getting some kind of aphid killing pesticide.

So annoying. Given the cost and effort especially with just a couple of plants, I think I'd be better off buying the chilli fruits online instead!

I've got some white fly but only on a few leaves. I have been spraying the leaves with water to inhibit them. Seems to work.
Just started a weekly feed with tomorite.

it does suck and ive had it myself i even went as deep as to buy ladybirds off amazon a few years ago ! :D i put the plants in a big closed box and stuck in the lady birds just to see how it would turn out they cleared them up within a day. but it was pricey but more of a experiment curiosity to see if it would work. my ghost pepper plant outside been ravaged same at mo but i have some inside as well. so we will see how it goes.

Going well now, I put a lot of effort in to these since early Feb so happy to get some payback now

you even got a few little helpers keeping the bugs off :D

the glasshouse is absolutely packed with spiders.

I walk in there and get covered in webs.

I dont mind the glasshouse dwelling spiders though, the ones I hate are called lace weaver spiders.
I have loads of those in and around my fire logs storage outside and they are quick to bite those ones if you get one on you.
