2024 FA Community Shield Man City v Man Utd [Saturday 10th August @ 3pm]

City looked poor, don’t think they will be winning the league this season

Settle it was their second string team. The main first team players only recently joined up with the squad. Its the first time they’ve won in since 2019. They’ve lost the last 3 years as well.

Still their league to lose.

I saw some promise from United. Some, not a lot.
Starting a match with Evans and Maguire is not where we want to be.
I have to admit that I have a negative bias toward both Sancho and Rashford. I think they will be trouble again and we would be advised to move them on. Amad, Nacho and Mainoo all positives. We also need to move on from the Mctominay years. He's just not anywhere near the level.

Think most had enough of Sancho and Rashford costing the club on and off the pitch and you wouldn't want them around the younger players coming through , Maguire also needs shifting out

The club does look like it's heading in the right direction but just few holding the club hostage because of silly contracts given to them

Holding the club hostage?

If you really wanted them gone you'd bite the bullet and pay off the contracts/offer to fund some of the wages for buying clubs. We were in a similar position with a few players and chose to eat the costs, it’s worth it in the long run. Can hardly blame them for staying on a big salary without having to do much.

I said this before, it's going to cost us more, in terms of damage, to keep them at the club. Might as well cut losses but they're never going to buy out the contracts. I would.

Arsenal, we paid off ozil, auba, mustafi, sokratis, kolasinac and a few more to get rid of the deadwood. Man U arguably only have rashford, sancho and AwB to get shot of. Maguire too I guess but he’s not a bad backup.
And onana, mctominay, Mount.

Sancho and Rashford would do though, if nothing else. Two bad eggs.

Didn't even know it was on until I saw Garnacho scored on '81. Next thing after that was Fabrizio Romano congratulating City on another trophy. :D

As a side note, that numbering on those City shirts is truly awful.

Yup and in hindsight it’s worked amazing.

United prefer the method of continuing to pay them their full salary until they’re worth 0 on the books. Losing far more in the long run.

Also why they’re struggling with PSR, clubs around them have 3-4x the value in sales.

In the 7 years or so they’ve only sold 3 players for >20m. Greenwood, James and Lukaku. 2 sold at a profit and one a loss.

Another thing Monaco Jim needs to sort out.

Some very good patterns of play and we didnt go just to sit and hit on the counter attack. Where the two clubs and teams are at the moment I think a win for us would have had a little bit more value going into the season. I know some will say Community Shield, it's a glorified friendly etc.

Player wise Sancho really does need moving on, prob for his own career if nothing else. Sometimes, players just dont click at a club. Darren Bent made quite a good point on Talk**** yesterday that this is all on Sancho now and it's down to him. He's at a big club moving in the right direction. The manager has welcomed him back in the squad and drawn a line under last seasons situation, he's got the platform and he needs to do what Garnacho is doing and making sure he is pretty much undroppable.

Good to see Amad getting the backing of his manager. Sancho could take a leaf out of both them books.
