2070S > New GPU

There's nothing wrong with Radeon btw, I use both vendors, so if you want to stick to budget go 6800XT and it's got 16Gb vram.

But if you're wanting to stick to NV, I wouldn't buy one of those cheaper 70s posted above for the sake of saving £20, in comparison to the 4070FE-they look junk!

I'd turn on DLSS/FSR and either save up more for 4070FE for no hassle warranty or hold out for a 4070 with a 3yr warranty to drop in price, preferably Zotac for the UK RMA centre and 5 yr warranty if you register with Zotac.

They're all valid vendors which have been in the game for decades. Much like myself, their biggest issue is that they offer short term warranties by comparison to the likes of Zotac and Gigabyte. There's no such thing as a "good brand" and it's a mindset people need to let go of.

Every company releases good and bad, you do your research and buy on a case by case. Generally speaking you gain little to nothing by spending a premium on the same processor despite the bells and whistles or advertising.

Would I spend more for UK based warranty? Absolutely, but only within reason and the store you buy from is responsible for the first year regardless.

I used to think the same.

Without going into detail, the FE is way above those 3 GPUs in build quality alone, that's probably the cheapest noisest assembled of the 70s.

Going off of past experience, a warranty with a UK RMA centre is worth it's weight in gold, FE is free collect and return.

Zotac and Gigabyte, UK RMA centres, depends where you purchase will even get you free collect and return, zero hassle with customs clearance and probably quicker.

I largely agree with the FE assuming you can get them. Gigabyte and Zotac are my go-to options in most circumstances for the very reasons you've stated. Big brands like MSI and worse yet Asus are absolutely horrendous to deal with by comparison.

I listed those three due to the op being on a tight budget for his needs. I've seen each of those companies supply good products for a very long time, albeit quietly by comparison to most.

Personally? I would spend the extra 10-20 quid to get a Zotac or Gigabyte but then I felt dirty suggesting the 4070 at all and wouldn't have were it not for the ops monitor.

6800 or wait would be my choice since he wants new.

I'm in a similar boat, looking at upgrading from a Gigabyte 2070 Super. I had got my eye on the Asus Duel 4070 OC but not 100% sure its the right card to go for & the warranty issues mentioned above on some cards is interesting. I had a right nightmare with a 2060 a few years back that came from MSI in a worse state than what I sent it in so I won't be touching MSI again.

Thanks for response. I've usually been a INNO3D fan, but unsure whether they are still around.

I'm not evening sure upgrading is a solid option at the moment. I have my eyes on the 4060ti 16gb version

Going to a 4060ti would be a waste of money from a 2070s. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a downgrade in some situations.

For a budget of <500, new I’d go for a 6800XT or if you wanted to save a bit then the 6800 isn’t much more than £400 and will comfortably beat the 4060ti, used then you can pick up a 3080 for around £400 which should be an +80% boost from a 2070 super.
