2080TI - whats the best model to keep an eye out for on the second hand market?

Its pretty much dead. Small niche group left supporting it. Just played Kena in 3D and its insane. Using Geo-11 driver, a 30 series card can do it so there is hope!

Really? Occulus Rift is dead?

Never been interested in VR but I hadn't heard anything about Rift dying, what's the go to devices now then?

I meant 3D vision is dead.
yep 3d vision is still amazing, just about to step up to a 4090 after almost 4 years but i'll be keeping my evga 2080ti ftw3(can recommend these, quietish too) just for 3d, try and get a 1440p 3d monitor too, it's a HUGE upgrade over 1080p, think only 2 or maybe 3 monitors did it, mines an asus rog pg278qr
Agreed!! did you know!!

I'm using 3x 55'' 3K C6s or at least thats my plan. will need to grab a 3090 and use Geo-11 for 3D. the 2080 ti I'll have to use single screen.

how do u handle triple monitor 3D vision? do u use 3D fix manager and upscale ?

I got a Dell 2080Ti blower card, looks like a black founders edition, thing has taken a beating from day one and surprisingly quiet in a very compact all in one (CHIEFTEC L-type PC case i've had since 2009) case with a 3900X .

that'll be a very very nice setup, do it! I had actually ran triple screen 3d a long time ago, with 3 x lg debezeled 23 inch 1080p monitors 560 2gb sli then 780 sli, that's how long ago haha

as far as i remember you just enable surround in the drivers then drag and drop the monitor icons to your orientation if they're in the wrong order, then enable 3d with the nvidia set up thing, job done no upscaling needed although with the resolution on those tv's you might need to. they just halve the horizontal resolution in 3d right?

the games that worked with it were amazing, especially iracing as it can run triples with 3 seperate viewports with zero distortion at the edges of the screens, lots of others worked great too, still got a load of .jps stereo screenshots from back then :)

only got rid when the driver issues became too much to deal with on a daily basis

Wow, you had a VERY high end setup. Ahead of the curve. I imagine those triple montiors would probably even today still offer a transformative gaming experience which many would be shocked by.

I've got limited experience with 3D gaming and only on a single 55'' C6.

I've tried so far:

1. Batman arkham knight - flat out incredible
2. Shadow of the tomb raider - flat out incredible
3. Rise of the Tomb Raider - on a 150'' projector in 720p, it was mind blowing, on the 55'' monitor, awesome
4. Kena - got it worked, took ages to get working. Again, really really sweet.
5. KCD - not great. my PC is struggling playing it and I'm getting ghosting.
6. RE2 - awesome, although 2D is nice too.
7. Yakuza - much better sense of depth obviously but nothing earth shattering
8. Bioshock Infinite - meh, its good, but it looks sweet in 2D too the 3D is pretty mild
9. Detroit - Stunning
10. dishonored death of the outsider - mind bendingly good but also a bit intense
11. Hitman - average
12. Ff15 - couldnt get to play due to low FPS i think i need to play with settings
13. Star Wars - incredible
14. Plague - awesome
15. God of wat via Geo11 driver - awesome substantial upgrade.

then I've done
1. HZD using super depth 3D reshade - crap, pretty awful. Its nice as in.. nice to experiement with but the visual downgrade over 4K/HDR is substanial.

This is all in 4K/3D/OLED
Its just so demanding which is the issue
and compatability is tough

I don't imagine I can do triple 4K/3D tbh. i think it will struggle. at 55'' the 1440p and 1080p upscales will probably not look great.

I didn't know there could be a way to run 3d vision on a 30 series card. 3d vision when done right is still living with me today :D It's like I hit the height of gfx back then, and 2d will always feel a downgrade. 3d vision Tomb raider knocks the socks of the 2d raytraced version.

Only geo-11 enabled games but yeah 30 series cards can do it.

im trying to get a 2080TI for 3DV gaming and 4090 for triple monitor Geo-11 games. Sadly think it will be a bit tough on the wallet.

Hey, I'm in the market for a 2080TI for 3D gaming.

Is there any specific 2080ti model(s) which have far superior model to the others or are they all pretty much equal? Given how much the prices have reduced as they're so old, I think I will have a decent choice of the cards.
I'm a 3d vision gamer too, I understand why it didn't catch on but it's a shame that more people didn't experience it as when done right it's transformative.
Back to the question, AFAIK there is no one brand better than any other. There was a reliability (space invader) scare when new but as someone else said, those issues are way in the past now.
If you buy a 'big' card with a big cooler, you'll probably be able to sustain higher boost temps when gaming but really within a given generation it's never more than 10% or so.

ye it was pretty great for back then, honestly playing arkham asylum 3d on day one in 2009 is second only to half life alyx for me in pure wow factor, was incredible

also had a 720p 3d projector like you've listed, can't remember the model, it was white! i rememeber configuring a game for max convergence no depth and things were popping so far out of the screen it was amazing, only 92 inch though

played a few of the ones you've listed there, a few more i'd try would be -

- the original dishonored, that worked with triples
- enslaved, decent game almost has that 'toyification' effect that looks so good in 3d
- remember me, another one that worked with triples
- metro 2033/last light games, 3d vision ready, looks amazing
- gta v, also 3d vision ready
- prototype 2, has issues but looks great
- mega man 11, i like it!
- dolphin emulator build 10953, last one with 3d support, lot to try here, f-zero gx!
- dead space 2, the scene right at the start where the doctor gets infected by the parasite and turns is legendary, showed that off so many times to people
- trine series , most are 3d vision ready, all look great
- bulletstorm (non remaster) i remember the bit where a massive wheel is chasing you down that looked great

currently dual booting win 10 build 1809 (just for 3d) and win 11, will be putting this 2080ti in it's own box though once i upgrade
