I have the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard, on turbo it will hit 21xmultiplier, but i can not manualy select it?

I get the option of 12-20x multipliers?

Please help me find out how to change this so to select the 21x, do i need a bios update ? how do i do it? etc thanks :)

Doh, i was hopeing to use it to get 4gig oc on my 920 i7, as i read some where that 20x was not as stable as 19 or 21x

If Turbo is enabled and the CPU multiplier is set to Auto, your CPU will run at 21x when it needs to. You don't need to change anything.

21x multi can be used for 4GHz o/c.. just make sure that Turbo Boost Technology is enabled in Advanced CPU Options in the BIOS, and then set the Bclk to 191MHz...

I would really love a detailed link on what turbo boost actually is

Currently my best guess is it puts the multi up by one when under light load, which looks worthless. The second most likely is that it just lets you pick x21, then things continue as normal, which looks rather worthless as well given the x21 could just be available by default with the same effect

Turbo boosts the mutliplier to 21x when under load. It'll stay at 21x unless the temps get too high, in which case it'll drop back down until the temps are within safe limits. If a single core is under load, its mutliplier will go up to 22x, again as long as the temps do not get too high.

Essentially, the default mutiplier is 21x and it drops to 12x when idle with SpeedStep enabled. "Turbo" isn't really a good name for it IMO.
