Ok, I am after a new monitor, I play games and would like one that I can hook either a PS3 or XB360 to.

I have been reading a lot of the threads here but I am not sure on what to do for, the price jump from 22 to 24 is pretty big, is there a big diff between 22 and 24?

There's other differences beyond the size, like the resolution and extra inputs. Also most of the 24"ers (apart from the SM-245B) have PVA panels which have much better viewing angles than the TN+Film panels which you'll find in all the 22" screens.

1920 × 1080 in 37", or 1920 x 1200 in 24"?

Depends how close you want to sit to it....... if you are looking to sit at a desk, then a decent 24" TFT would be great, but if you are sitting much further back then a 37" LCD TV would probably be better.

I think what Relentless was trying to pin down is whether the extra 2" is worth the big price difference. I am in the same dilemma. I hope to be driving my new monitor with an 8800GTX

Take this 22" Samsung at £264:

1680x1050 Resolution
2ms Response Time
Contrast Ratio: 3000:1

Against this 24" Samsung at £388:

1920x1200 Resolution
5ms Response Time
Contrast Ratio: 3000:1

Is that extra resolution and real estate worth the extra £120?
What does the text in Windows look like at 1920*1200? Is it readable?
Is there a superior gaming experience?

I could afford the £120 extra. But is it value for money?

yes, but he says he wants it for XBox360/PS3, which you rarely sit as close too as you would with a PC.

Back when i was looking for a new monitor, i was tempted by the 22", but decided that i should either go for 20" or 24" as simply stretching 1680x1050 over another 10% screen area wasnt what i was looking for. As decent 24" are pretty pricey, not to mention my dislike for DELL eliminating one of the better options (personal oppinion, having spent as much time building my own PC from scratch, i'm not having the "DELL" logo anywhere near it!) i went for the best 20" i could find!

if i were you, i'd get a 24", or a LCD TV.

Not really, 24" Dell £500, or 37" 1080P for £900. Considering the difference in size, there's not much in it. Unlike the jump from 20" to 22" (£250 for 2")

I'm just talking in absolute terms, not pounds per inch. I'm guessing if the guy is doubting whether it's worth spending the £450 for a 2407WFP he doesn't have the £770 (Toshiba 37X3030DB) to spend on a 37" 1080p HDTV.

But you can get a Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor for only £387
TN+Film panel though.

Good info guys, I dont think my original post was clear, its for both a xb360/PS3 and using with my PC.

I'm in exactly the same position as you. I've got an Xbox360 and PS3 which I'd want to use with the monitor - obviously I sit further away when I play games, but also I want PC usage as well.....

As you said the price jump from 22" -> 24" is kinda hefty.
