I think its time i upgraded from my trusty 19" crt, i have been looking at 2

V7 L22WD 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor -

Belinea 2225S1W 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor -
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-006-BE

I have read the user reviews and both get good reviews, my main thing is does it really make that much difference not having dvi on the belinea one and how is wide screen gaming in general, i play 2142 a lot and will be on a 8800gts.

Well they are similer, both 6bit TN panels (all 22" are AFAIK), the Belinea has a higher contrast ratio and speakers. BUT considering you will be looking at this for hours per day the V7 looks prettier and gives you multiple inputs and no speakers!

I just can't grasp how they can be so good at the price, you can pay that for a 19" widescreen so what are you losing on in quality.

They only have a single analogue input. Mine has DVI analogue s-video and composite.

V7 L22WD 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver

1680x1050 Resolution, 700:1 Contrast Ratio, 5ms Response Time, 280 cd/m2 Brightness, 1x Analogue Input, 1x Digital Input, 3yr On-Site Warranty

that has analogue and dvi, may go for that one or could cut down the size and go for a Dell E207WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black says this about it
It offers analog (VGA) and digital (DVI - Digital Video Interface) with HDCP support (High-Bandwidth Digital Copy Protection) connectivity, helping to ensure a high quality image and enables the viewing of protected high-definition content such as HD-format video

So would this be a better all round tft as i would use it for films etc too.

Yeah but just wondering what you do actually miss out on, would prefer a decent 20" than a average 22".

I got a L22WD, its fantastic via DVI for the PC for gaming and via VGA for 360.

Search for the thread on here, lots of info on it. It's called v7 22" or something

I dont think they are so much cheap as more that the prices of monitors and tv's has come down a lot recently. The other higher priced ones you mention is probably a name you ar buying.

how does i look via normal vga though as buying a dvi cable will have to wait.

To be honest, via VGA for PC didn't look as good as DVI. With DVI the text is much more clearer and sharper otherwise its fine.

DVI cables can be had for under £5..

Just noticed another thread Gibbo said this so will take his advice.

Hi there

I know we sell these but I've got to say these are truly impressive.

I've now seen the Video 7, Belinea, Asus, Viewsonic and Samsung due to the fact we stock and sell all of these.

No word of a lie the Belinea delivers the best image quality out of them all which I find kinda puzzling as its analogue and the others we sell are DVI and a lot more expensive. If it was my money I'd buy the Belinea its the best performance and the cheapest one we sell. In fact I'd buy a DELL 24" panel but out of the 22" Belinea win win.

Was going to make a thread about this, but figured on not doing so.

I got my perfect Belinia 22" on Jan 2nd. Everything has been running fine, no dead pixels, great resolution etc.
On saturday however it just lost power. Tried other plugs, used a seperate power plug, still nothing.

Got onto Belinia support today and they needed the serial number, but as I was at work didnt have it.

Hope they can come out and give me a new one (without any dead pixels) soon!!!!!

Is this an example of "Buying cheap"? or am I the unlucky 1 in a million?

Just bad luck i would say, don't matter what make you get some will die you just unlucky it was you.

Faced with the same choice I went for a 20", although the Belinea wasn't available when I bought my Dell 2007WFP, and the cheapest 22" at that time was around £280, so the equation was a little different. The reason I chose 20" was to avoid the limited viewing angles of TN+Film panels.

The numbers are just there to fool you, for example cheapo 32" tvs for £500 commonly have the same specs as the decent £800 brand makes like, sony, sammy, phillips, toshiba, etc but the quality is far worse, possibly down to the panel they use as cheap brands never say what panel type they use. The reviews done on proper review websites can't be trusted either, as they have to get their revenue from somewhere, ie the product manufacturer.... and I wouldn't bother with those user reviews that are a few lines of text with no in depth or detail that could be written by an amateur who may anything is good or just someone pimping the product. The cheap lcds are definatley not as good as the more expensive brand named ones, even though people try to tell you you are just paying for the name.

What are these like for gaming on, 3 have my eye the

Belinea 2225S1W 22"
Dell E207WFP 20" Widescreen
V7 L22WD 22" Widescreen

Never really looked at widescreen support on games as only on a crt 19", what to you guys think who have either of those on 2142 and other games, i see a lot about 1.1 mapping or somet what does that mean and do these have it.
