Is it normal for these to get fairly warm after use? E.g. had a 3 hour gaming session last night and around the rear vents it was quite hot. Never noticed this on my old monitor (19 inch Hanns-G).

not sure

mine's on 24/7 doing graphics/gaming etc and not getting warm...

Mine has just arrived, looks like a stunning monitor compared to my old screen but I have a single green stuck pixel right in the centre of the screen which displays on a black background :( :( :( :(

So say after playing a game, you can't feel any warmth from the rear top vents?

actually yeah just played for a while and it was quite hot when i put my hand on it afterwards, don't think you need to worry about it tbh.

dude replace it then? as soon as possible. although there are ways of fixing stuck pixels, i wouldn't bother with a brand new monitor.

Will ring them tomorrow morning of course, slightly disappointed but then I've gone with a dell monitor for their support too so let's hope they play ball.

Dell refuse to replace the unit (1 day old) with a brand new replacement because the original order date traces back to March 2009.

Slight disappointment in this monitor is now turning to anger :(

This is why when I buy an LCD monitor, it will be with a pixel guarantee.

Can only suggest you ask for an escalation of your complaint with Dell, and stress that you have only just received the monitor. I stand to be corrected, but I believe a warranty starts from the day you receive the product, not from when you order it.

I thought Dell had that dead pixel free guarantee effort going on?

Taken from their site:

"During the LCD Monitor manufacturing process, it is not uncommon for one or more pixels to become fixed in an unchanging state. The visible result is a fixed pixel that appears as an extremely tiny dark or bright discolored dot. When the pixel remains permanently lit, it is known as a “bright dot.” When the pixel remains black, it is known as a “dark dot.”
In almost every case, these fixed pixels are hard to see and do not detract from display quality or usability. A display with 1 to 5 bright or dark dots is considered normal and within industry standards."

mines showing the amber light on the on/off switch even thought its switched on and working, very odd, used to be blue :-(

Tried a different dvi cable and powered it on and off

1 month, 3 dell monitors, two with a single stuck pixel (green and red respectively) and I've finally got one that appears to be perfect! :)
