230v LED battens

I need some cheap, bright lighting for my loft and garage! don't want to spend a fortune, it just needs to be functional. the garage will be a gym and workshop so well lit but not so that i'm blinded when attempting to work under a car

any suggestions at all? good/bad experiences?

Was just going to post the same thing. The current lighting in the garage is old tubes and very very bad, rusty etc.

The only thing I have come across is the stuff from screwfix.

funnily enough screwfix was the first place i checked. am thinking though i"ll need at least 5 for the garage and probably 2 for the loft.

It might also be worth having a look at CPC. I've bought LED emergency lights from them for less the most of the electrical factors charge for florescent ones.

EDIT: Also bare in mind Screwfix although they will often have a large range in store they often run fairly low stock levels. So there's a good chance they won't have 7 fixtures on the shelf.

These are what we fit in office corridors and the like and have done for a while now, not the nicest looking light but the output is fantastic and not one failure amongst the many we have fitted. Not sure if you can get them from 'high street' shops but ring your local Newey and Eyre and I'm sure they'd do you a decent price.

I would have thought that as a non account customer who is not in the trade, they'd be unlikely to give a decent price. Not that I've got anything against Neweys... they are one of the better wholesalers, but its how the whole sector operate

You should check out the YouTube channel 'bigclivedotcom', he reviews a lot of Chinese stuff and it's often a bit awful.
