A friend is looking to spend up to £400 for a new monitor.

He currently has an aging 24" 1080p, 60hz screen. Ideally doesnt want to go much over 24", maybe 27".
I advised sticking with 1080p so his 3070 GPU doesnt struggle in gaming. He mainly plays Warzone 2.

I also advised going Gsync (I have an Acer Predator X34 that has been fantastic) and going to Gsync was a game changer for me.

Are there any monitors out there up to £400 that are 1080p, 24" 144hz or higher but also good quality? Probably best not going super his refresh rate as expect quality will take a hit

Seems a waste to only look at 1080p screens, 3070s are good for 4k 60fps, or at least 1440p. Even wither high refresh screens you can manually set the refresh rate to whatever you want so not something to worry about a GPU struggling with.

Looks like a solid 1440p screen to me, or the S2722DGM is similar spec a bit cheaper at £249 with a curved screen....but only Freesync so no listed support for being g sync compatible (yet.)
I was going to ask. What’s the difference between all the 100 odd options of Gsync / Freesync now?

My X34 is straight ‘Gsync’ now theres gsync, gsync premium, gsync compatible, freesync, adaptive freesync and many other options.

Not 100% sure with the new versions the main differences I look for is the range it works at. Proper g sync modules tend to work from the full range (1 FPS > 144FPS for example) but Freesync and G sync compatible starts from around 40 FPS

I recently bought a G2724D and it is for me quite an upgrade on my old Iiyama 24.5" 1080p TN Monitor. There is only two DP and one HDMI sockets and no speakers, however what it lacks in connectivity it more than makes up in other features! There is a recent RTings review for it out too!

If you want to stay at 24", but want 1440p there's the AOC Q24G2A now.

24", 1440p 165HZ, G-sync compatible.

Out of stock at the moment, but was £220 or so when in. Hopefully more companies start making monitors with that panel, instead of yet more 27/1440 to go on the massive pile of ones that are already out.
