24" 144Hz 1080p recommendations

Benq xl2411z for as low of a price as you can get it represents the best performance/value i guess :D or go full YOLO and try your luck with an AOC maybe!

I think he means that because you have a 1070 in your sig, you should be looking at G-Sync monitors. Its competitor, FreeSync, would indeed be cheaper, but it won't work with your nVidia card. At least for now. Some say nVidia will never support FreeSync (or Adaptive-Sync, which FreeSync is based on), but judging from the current market trends, FreeSync has taken the lead, and will become the industry standard (Intel has given their support for Adaptive-Sync, already), so nVidia will eventually have to swallow their pride and at least start supporting Adaptive-Sync.

But this might take a while, so for the time being, nVidia users will just have to pay the nVidia-tax in their monitors, or forego the variable refresh rate goodness.

I don't have personal experience on the G-Sync, but at least the FreeSync feature is really a game changer.

Yes thanks, I won't pay the G-sync tax but even if it was free I wouldn't buy it as I may go AMD next time and then be stuck with a feature that is useless. Given I have a 1070 a 1080p monitor will be pretty easy to drive so I think that shouldn't be an issue as I'm after a high refresh rate monitor.

Well, I'm using Nvidia and just bought a FreeSync monitor. I decided Gsync was too expensive for me. Not sure why, but availability on monitors with it sucks.

The availability sucks because the nVidia-tax is quite a tangible part of the overall costs even for monitor manufacturers. For manufacturers, the profit margin decreases, and thus their percentual return-on-investment suffers. Whereas for FreeSync, because the price difference versus a regular monitor is relatively small, you might even be hard-pressed to find a regular 144Hz monitor, nowadays.

So indeed, buying a FreeSync monitor for an nVidia card isn't actually a bad idea. The FreeSync option will remain for a potential future GPU purchase, whereas you can for the time being use the monitor as a regular 144Hz screen, in any case.

Consider the AOC G2460PF.

Got it for £200 at a very well known high street PC shop. Cheaper than I could find it online.

Can't speak for the Acer. I looked into it but couldn't get on with the glossy finish on the bezel. If you haven't used 144Hz before and you're used to 60Hz, you're in for a bit of a shock. The difference is night and day.
