As title.
I currently have a Viewsonic VP201 which has been a brilliant monitor, it was one of the champions of it's day. I got mine nearly new for a then bargain price of about £500, I think they were £800 or so when new about 5 years ago. Which is a lot of money but I think paying for the best (within limits) guarantees a lot longer shelf life out of a monitor (or any product for that matter). Who else has been happy for 5 years with a piece of hardware?!?
It was up there with the best at the time and it's abilities still hold up to the most recent models with 20.1" size, 1600 x 1200, 0.255 mm, 250 cd/m2, 350:1, 24-bit (16.7 million colors) and a modest 16 ms response. It has had it's day now for me as I'm doing increasing amounts of graphical work so I need something with more size and resolution.
The prices for 24" monitors seem to be a no brainer, but in an ideal world I'd break the bank and go for a 30". Are the top 24" models better at gaming than the 30"ers? Realistically I can't *quite* justify spending a wad for a 30" unless it was head and shoulders above; and not result in me having to sell a kidney to get it. Anyone care to tempt me?
Mostly I'm looking for information, opinions and experiences from other forum members who have similar demands and have splashed out.

On another note: At the time going from a 20" CRT to a 20" TFT I did notice a slight response delay (my aim suffered for it
), but the sharpness and space saving made up for it. Would I be right in saying LCDs still aren't a match for CRTs even now, talking colour depth/contrast and responsiveness?
