24/7 Running Temps. How High Do You Run Yours?

i suppose you have to think how often your computer is going to be maxed out like that
from day to day and game use, i doubt it will ever be stressed as much as prime 95 would do. but if your using it to render and edit etc all day long, say at work, then a safer overclock might be better. but thats just a complete noob talking, i've had my desktop about 2 weeks so far! please correct me if im wrong!

im using mine to fold 24/7 so both cores are maxed 100%....also I'm sure I'm not the only one who can say this

out of interest, is folding@home something you do when your not using your computer just to help out? just visited the website, and Im assuming its just like donating your computer to science whilst youre not using it? is that right? if so, why are there not more things like that?

Under load I would say under 65c, saying that with my new WC loop I hit around 50c, but previously on air I was hitting 60-65.

Q6600 G0 at 3.4 GHz on auto volts.

Normal load, for me average around 40 % on each core, approaching 40 C.

I should think about getting it back up to 3.6 perhaps but not convinced it's worth it.

to be honest its not, theres really not much in the speed difference, esp on something like 3D Mark 06, but I hate having it at 3.4 when I know I can have 3.6. Contradicting myself I know, but thats just me, always pushing things to the limit!

Have a look in the Distributed Computing forum. :)

I've run my Core Duo for pretty much 10 months non-stop at 70C.

im running my 1066Mhz Ram @ 1000Mhz, with 1.5 divider. But to do that I've had to run my ram at 2.225v, .025v over recomended

I can get 3.438 GHz on auto volts which I think is 1.25v in the BIOS.
To get 3.6 GHz I’ve got to go up to 1.45v in the BIOS which I think is a fair bit higher than Intel had in mind which puts me off.

I was also using Scythe 1600 fans when on 3.6 GHz which were noisier than I prefer so I put the Lian-Li fans back in which are about 1,000 RPM and very quiet.

It does mean the temps tend to be a bit higher although there is obviously a fair bit in hand.

I’m not as young as I was, although I’m not alone in that of course, so the reduction in speed is something I find easy to live with.

And @ 3.6 you have your 400Mhz on the ram with a 1:1 divider.

My answer is yes
