24" Dell - New HD version

Oh, I don't think anyone has been talking about that!

Unless I'm mistaken and DELL have announced a different model, it is going to be the DELL 2407WFP. The DailyTech have the leaked details and (unless I'm mistaken; I really couldn't care less about all this DRM/HD rubbish) it will come with a HDCP DVI port, but not HDMI. As far as I know it should be due within the next couple of months :)

Why would it have a HDMI port, it doesn't have speakers, (unless you buy the "sound bar")

As said it should have HDCP through the DVI.

I am gonna get this as soon as it comes out, no one knows exactly when that is though. It should be out by the end of April though.

Quite - an awful lot of folk seem to be very confused about the whole HDCP/HDMI/DVI issue and seem to be under the impression that HDCP requires an HDMI connector when it does not.

HDMI = DVI + Sound

Both HDMI and DVI are capable of carrying HDCP encrypted signals.

You can even buy HDMI-DVI/DVI-HDMI adapters too.

Yup, but make sure they are Dual Link DVI.

It would be nice to have 2 DVI ports but I guess component will have to do.

DVI splitters are expensive. :(

Yes give me a 24" widescreen with 2 DVI ports. Analogue VGA doesn't seem to cut it for me and I want to connect PC and MAC with best connection. VGA for the 360...

So a monitor with 2 DVI, 1 VGA, 2 Components for Video games. :D

It seems like its much more cost affective at the moment to go for a half decent home cinema amp with dvi/hdmi switching built in rather than go for a seperate dvi/hdmi switch

In the last week I went the cheaper route and got a Denon 1906 6.1 amp with a 3 componant switcher built in which works fabulously for £300 ( I agree its still quite expensive - however considering that a 2 input componant switcher can cost £100 + on its own, it seemed very reasonable to buy the amp)

My AGP 9600 Pro (128mb) shows that it can operate at 1920*1200 at 60hz -32bit colour, will this be the optimum resolution for the 2407 ?

Thanks for the info - I hadnt looked into this much and simply thought you HAD to have an HHMI port to run HD content in the future.

In that case looks like im definately getting this beast when its released.

Roll on :)
