Would there be any other recommendations over the 24" Dell?

I use it for gaming, photoshop & general browsing as well as the occasional film. Not looking for anything over 24". Did look at 27" previously, but too big for me.

ha! Oh the joy's of working with a company where a Dell discount is obtained by a simple e-mail address.

Would I not run into an issue with capped FPS on a 60hz monitor, even using v-sync? Would it be better for me to invest in a 120hz instead? I'm just worried that going SLI will just cause more of an issue.

I expect thats the U2412M model as opposed to the U2413. Double check, both still current and produced

Thought it would be given the price of the U2413 which is a very different monitor. A nice screen though still, but not a great bargain really

and regularly dips to ~£200 on special.

Buying from OcUK you'd also get DSR protection (guessing your supplier is treating it a business purchase seeing as the discount comes via work).

Would there be any better alternatives to the Dell at less than £200?

Would I not run into an issue with capped FPS on a 60hz monitor? Would it be better for me to invest in a 120hz instead? I'm just worried that going SLI will just cause more of an issue and my FPS won't even increase. I was playing Crysis 2 yesterday and my FPS was static at 60. I did have v-sync enabled, not tried it without. I'll assume that since it's not lockin the fps to the refresh rate, it'll produce better results.

I've been looking at these:

Benq XL2411T 24" TRUE 120Hz
Asus VG248QE 24" Widescreen

120Hz capable monitors will give you an improved frame rate and smoothness in games no doubt, so if thats your primary use, one of those models would be more suited i would say. Would be worth familiarising yourself with different panel techs (see sticky) as well as those are TN Film based models, and the Dell is an IPS model.

It's given me something to think about and I get the impression the IPS panels are the better investment.

I am in the same boat as you snips86x and my choices are between those same 3!

I am racking my brains trying to decide between a nice IPS screen or a fast TN.

I think if you enjoy a lot of RTS, RPG games and general computer use go with the IPS, if you play a lot of FPS then go for the TN.

Although saying that I don't think an fps such as BF3 or crysis etc would be unplayable at 60hz, it would also look super nice with good color accuracy.

Have you considered something like the overlord? overclocked ips monitor with quite good reviews..

Yeah, not sure where to go!

The overlord looks like it would be a great monitor, but doesn't look physicall appealing. Still leaning towards something like 'Asus VN247H 24"Widescreen Super Narrow Bezel'.

The 120hz would be great, but I dont think I can warrant £320 yet and I've got no ghosting issues with a 60hz at the moment and with v-sync off, the cap wont be so bad! AHHH!!!! Damn my not knowing what to do!!!
