If I set it to low the PS3 picture suffers in a lot of other areas, to put it simply, things you should be able to see you can't, with it set to normal you can.
I have no problem with the black level at all, even on normal. It's more of a problem that white doesn't look quite white on any setting. Not compared to my S-IPS panel at least.
Can't see how a DVI > HDMI would be any different to a HDMI > HDMI if they both carry a digital signal?

I haven't taken any measurements yet but I don't think the backlight as as strong as the XL2370's, whilst the black level is a little higher. This is a cheaper panel though and so far the experience has been pretty good.
