Sorry Cal - didn't see your comment there. I would love to review the BX2450 and compare it to the XL2370. I am currently reviewing the Samsung LD220HD and when I've finished with this I will let Samsung known I'm interested. :)

It annoys me that some manufacturers are leaving out VESA mounts recently. I'd love a BenQ V2420 but it's incompatible with the Ergotron desk mount I've ordered. :rolleyes:
 
I have just ordered the BX2450 for the price I posted above. Should be delivered tomorrow.
Mounted my NEC 20WGX2 on a Neo-Flex arm earlier, I'm well impressed with the arm.

I have one of these and it's an awesome screen! Once you calibrate it a little and sort the HDMI black level out (terrible out of the box) its a cracker!

Also its one of the few monitors I have seen where the screen reaches the very edge of the bezel with no black gaps which you normally see on LCD monitors. It beats the Benq hands down which frankly I thought was terrible, panel bending at edges, poor colours and build quality. I'd rather pay the higher price but that's me :)
 
i am looking at this monitor at the moment for connecting up the Xbox360. seems like the best deal to me at the moment...

Just took delivery of the BX2450. Compared to my 20WGX2 i'm far from impressed, even at full brightness it's really dull in comparison :(

Is this normal for a TN panel? my other one is S-IPS and the best picture I have ever seen so maybe i'm just used to it and expected more from this?

Your IPS says it all. IPS is superior to TN panel. It will always give better quality picture. On youtube both panels have been compared and you can see the immediate difference. Plus IPS doesn't seem to suffer from viewing angle limitation compared to TN panel.
 
The Samsung is at 100% brightness, the NEC is at 50% and still brighter, maybe it's because of the LED backlight?

Yeah the viewing angle issue is easy to see, the S-IPS is pretty much perfect on every angle, far from it for the TN.

Ahh well, other than it not being that bright it's a lovely monitor, no backlight bleed or stuck pixels or anything :)

One thing I have noticed though is whites don't look very white, again, this is compared to the S-IPS, without that at it's side I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Have you changed HDMI black level to Low?

I did this, it instantly makes the monitor look better.

Picture settings > HDMI Black Level > Set to Low.
 
Interesting user feedback here. I think to be fair the BX2450 will never be as good as an IPS screen then again it costs a lot less. I'm still going to go for one as I can't justify spending £400 any more on a monitor, I've got a wedding to save for too!
 
I don't like it with the HDMI black level set to low.

Had a strange problem with a 10M HDMI cable from my PS3, plugged into HDMI 1 on the monitor it works fine, plugged into 2 it gives flickering white dots of corruption, the supplied DVI>HDMI cable works fine in either port.

I know it's to do with cable length but why it works fine in one port and not the other is a strange one, can only assume the first port boosts the signal somehow and the second doesn't.

Also, a lot of the settings on the monitor are shared between both HDMI ports, mostly the picture settings, brightness, gamma e.t.c
 
If it's anything like my 52" Series 7 Samsung, HMDI Black Level set to Low makes the blacks look much better. I find with it set to normal, the panel is far too bright and over-contrasted.

Could anybody else confirm this?

I'm currently reviewing the Samsung BX2350 and I'm finding the black levels a bit poor compared to the XL2370 I reviewed previously. It could be because the particular panel I'm reviewing has a backlight bleedthrough issue or it could be that I'm using the provided DVI to HDMI cable. I may grab an HDMI to HDMI from work and see if it improves things.
