24: Live Another Day

Neither was Redemption in that case.

No it wasn't, neither was it intended to be...24:Redemption was a TV Movie designed as a filler between seasons, it didn't run in real-time.

The premise of the TV Series proper is that it is 24 hours in realtime..not 12 hours in double time. It undermines the entire premise of the series.

My comment was meant flippantly btw like there was meant to be 24 hours but jack died and only made it to 12 hours (obviously thats not what 24 is about).

Fair enough...I think the whole series resurrection is flawed by the series episode order..if you are going to resurrect Jack Bauer then it either needs to be the same format as before or remove the real-time aspect and transfer to the big screen. Call me cynical, but it seems Fox in its desperation for a ratings winner has jumped the shark, to steal a TV idiom.

Yes it did. It was a two-hour episode that spanned two hours within the show itself.

What do you mean "double time"? The assumption is that it'll be a 12-episode season with those 12 episodes spanning 12 hours of time within the show. You seem to be intent on making things far more confusing than they actually are.

From Wikipedia:
Fox CEO Kevin Reilly said that the series would essentially represent the twelve "most important" hours of a typical 24 season, with jumps forward between hours as needed.

So as above, essentially. Sure, it's not 24 hours and those hours might not be concurrent either, but each episode still represents an 'hour' of time within the show so it obviously fits the format.

Not sure how I feel about it. 24 was my favourite show (until I watched Breaking Bad!) but Bauer is still my all-time favourite TV character.

Kinda hoped they wouldn't come back to make another 'series' - thought 8 ended well. ;)

The opening sequence which set the 5-7 time period was not in real-time...and as I said, it wasn't done under the same premise...as the title of the series states..it is 24 hours in real-time...not 2 or 12.

No it doesn't, as the format is 24 hours shown in linear real-time...not 12 hours selected over a 24 hour period, shown in a non-linear fashion.

Oh who cares. It's called 24, it's Jack Bauer, it's real-time per episode. There's no rulebook that states it has to be 24 episodes each spanning a concurrent hour of time within the show in order to be called '24'; clearly they've deviated from their own format once already and evidently they're doing it again. It's still 24, and I'm still looking forward to it.

Don't mind me...I'm just a cynical old bugger....:)

I'm still looking forward to it though.

Can't disagree with that ;)

Guy I met last week for my Snowboarding trip is busy working on the set of this. (he designs/paints the sets).

Was chatting to him about it a bit and got me interested in it but i'm only onto season 3 so far...best get back on Netflix and watch some more. Loved the 1st 2

Sorry to say but you've probably already seen the best of the series imo - I've watched them all and there are only so many different ways that Jack can save the world!

Na, Season 5 is still the best in my opinion :) I've been watching them again and yes, it definitely gets tiring after a while, they shouldn't have bothered with Season 7 and I'm fairly sure re-watching 8 will be a waste of time. I think everyone has a different season when they tap out :D

It's too early to tell, but I am not so keen on the way they have filmed it - that being the switch from 35mm film to digital. It looks like it has lost the filmic/movie look that the previous seasons had.

Only watched 1st season so far because it's on SkyGo, but having to wait for rest :/ Only really started to watch 24 due to the new series announcement, but also Sutherland's role in Touch a while back.

I didn't enjoy 7 that much but I thought 8 was pretty enjoyable. I'm not particularly fussed on either Audrey or Heller, especially Heller. Audrey is just bland as anything and Heller has that horrific accent.

Never liked Audrey as Jack's love interest. I always thought Renee was more suited to Jack, just a shame where they went with it...

I wonder if anyone else will be returning? I've always wondered what happened to Mandy from Season 1, 2 and 4.
