24" Monitor Choice (another)

Sorry about this guys, I'm aware that there's no shortage of pretty much this exact thread, but would anyone care to give their opinion regarding my choice in screen based display-idge. I was thinking of buying it soon, but am resigned to it, more than likely, being somewhat better to wait and see.

I'd be using it for plenty of gaming through both PC (DVI) and Xbox 360 (VGA/Component) and wouldn't mind having other connections for various things. I'd also use it for coding and occasional light (definitely non-professional) use of Gimp/Dreamweaver etc. For these reason, I've brought my short list down to these three, I was wondering if anyone would give me any tips?

  • Dell 2408WFP (A00, with definite A01 upgrade. Basically, do I trust that it'll be all fine?)
  • BenQ FP241VW (Seems pretty good overall, only thing is I was rather looking for black, but seems petty when compared to what I'll be looking at- the screen)
  • Hazro HZ24W (Again, seems nice, obvious negatives- only three connections, out of stock, slight issue with Vista)

£0.01 for your thoughts?

Well overall the Dell is obviously the most commonly used so would suggest that purely on the amount of people that own it then it cant be half bad ;)

Personally I like the BenQ look...
 
Whilst I'd love to get a 2407WFP non-HC, sourcing it may be an issue. BenQ seems to be getting several votes. =) Also, w00t, Gangster!
 
If the firmware update fixes the Dell issues then I'll go with Dell, if not then it'll be BenQ who's invited to my BBQ :D
 
Stay clear of the Dell for photog work unless you want to shell out another £99 for a huey pro (or any other colorimeter) to tame the high-gamut.
 
Mind you, I have to say that for a monitor that has been out for a year the BenQ jobbie is quite pricey, so I'd question its value for money in that respect.
 
I agree with ivan, wait and see what 2408wfp A01 (with the firmware revision) is like. With that Benq stand you're too limited in positioning IMO, and the Hazro, while it's got the great IPS panel with the best viewing angles, the downside is the relatively low contrast ratio and IIRC lack of HDCP.
 
I would have onetime access (or more frequent, but not plugged in 24/7) to a colorimeter for calibration, though my work is nowhere near the standard I would _have_ to worry about accuracy rather than like to be, if you see what I mean.

The one downside of the BenQ stand is the rather random fixed position, from what I can see.

Guess I'm waiting until mid-July. :( No matter! =)
