i think i need a 24" monitor, but just want advice to confirm

I will be editing HDV content and producing motion graphics and digital scenes.

I think for this i'll need the extra resolution a 24" offers. Do you agree?

If so, which monitor do you guys recomend? I want DVI conneciton, i'll be running HD content so i think its a must.

I have my eye on the samsung 245B which i well rated and a good price. Anyone have this monitor for video editing?

Also does anyone know what special offer overclockers are going to do on 24" monitors this week? I'd like to place an order but i'm not doing it sunday night when overclockers update their weekly offers on mondays!

sounds good thinking regarding the resolution, would be a nice screen size to work with there i think. The SM245B is a good screen, only thing you MAY want to consider is that it is a TN Film based model, whereas there are other VA / IPS models out there which could offer you better viewing angles for movie playback and viewing.

Agree with Baddass, if you're doing graphical work the increased colour fidelity and viewing angles of a PVA/IPS panel would be very desirable. I'd try to stretch to a Dell 2407 myself.

k cheers.

I went with the samsung after all! i had a look at one in PC world and was really impressed so ordered here.

I'm not worried about viewing angles as i'll be looking at the monitor face on all the time and as for colour, with video editing i feed out to a broadcast monitor so i can rely on the colour there. I wouldn't trust any panel for colour work unless you buy those boxes (matrox/blackmagic) that do something clever (too clever for me) to make the colours accurate or something.

i have a MacPro so buying a dell is against my user agreement :p

Have you recieved it yet Bouncer? If so, what do you think?

I have my eye on this monitor as it is very well priced at a competitor.
I'm hoping OcUK will put it on this week only and undercut there price as they seem to be selling like hot cakes.

not yet! I'm due to get it this week, will let you know!

They've got some in PC world if you can get over there and have a proper look at one.

just got it today - lovely monitor

it's not what you would call thin though. check the dimensions carefully.

its a bit plasticy too, but the pixels are what matter and they're good
